Do you enjoy working with your hands, take pride in getting the details right, and want to learn a skilled trade? Tint World Columbus is hiring a Window Tint Installer Apprentice to learn automotive window tinting alongside an experienced installer.

Previous tinting experience is not required. We’re looking for someone dependable, careful, and willing to learn who wants to build a career. Experience in detailing, painting, landscaping, sign or graphics installation, automotive work, or another hands-on occupation is welcome.

You’ll begin with vehicle preparation, window cleaning, film handling, and shop support. As your skills develop, you’ll progress to installing film on easier windows, heat shrinking, and completing more involved installations under supervision. Advancement will depend on demonstrated quality, safe work habits, and readiness for the next step.

This role requires patience, precision, and respect for customer vehicles. If you welcome feedback and enjoy improving through practice, we’d like to hear from you.

Saturday availability is required.

  • Prepare and protect customer vehicles, document their condition, and follow procedures to prevent damage.

  • Clean and inspect glass thoroughly, identifying contamination and other issues before installation.

  • Learn to operate film plotting equipment and safely handle, cut, and organize window film.

  • Practice tint installation on easier windows before progressing to heat shrinking and more complex installations under supervision.

  • Assist the lead installer with preparation and workflow while keeping tools and work areas clean and organized.

  • Inspect completed work for bubbles, contamination, gaps, and edge quality, and make corrections as directed.

  • Follow training instructions, ask questions when unsure, and demonstrate steady improvement in quality and efficiency.

  • Interest in cars and a desire to build a career in automotive window tinting.

  • Some automotive knowledge and experience working with your hands, whether through employment, classes, or personal projects.

  • Strong attention to detail, including the patience to clean, inspect, and repeat a task until it meets expectations.

  • Dependability, punctuality, and availability to work Saturdays.

  • Willingness to accept feedback, follow established procedures, and ask for help before risking damage.

  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the role, including standing, bending, reaching, and working inside vehicles, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Previous professional automotive shop experience is a plus. Applicants should be prepared to discuss examples of hands-on work and demonstrate care and ability to follow instructions during a practical skills assessment.

Training and Growth

Your training will follow a structured progression:

  • Initial training: Shop safety, vehicle protection, condition inspections, glass preparation, film handling, and plotting.

  • Foundational installation: Supervised practice on quarter windows and easier side windows.

  • Developing skills: Heat shrinking and rear-window installation on suitable vehicles.

  • Continued progression: Work toward completing straightforward vehicles with increasing independence, generally over the first four to six months, depending on demonstrated progress.

More difficult installations will remain with the experienced installer until you are ready. Opportunities to learn PPF may become available after you develop a strong foundation in tinting.

Compensation

$40,000 - $52,000 yearly
