Description
The sous chef acts as the executive chef’s right-hand and the second-in-command in a kitchen. They manage daily operations, supervise line cooks, and take full charge when the head chef is away. They are the operational heartbeat of the kitchen, bridging the gap between executive vision and daily execution.
Responsibilities
- Shift Management: Expedite orders, ensure dishes meet quality standards, and troubleshoot any issues that arise during busy service hours.
- Staff Leadership: Train line cooks, delegate prep tasks, and step onto any cooking station when someone is absent or overwhelmed.
- Inventory & Ordering: Track food stock, receive deliveries, minimize waste, and maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment.
- Menu Development: Help the executive chef brainstorm new recipes and test, refine, and scale those dishes for the kitchen team to execute consistently.
- Administration: Assist with managing staff schedules, monitoring food costs, and ensuring all kitchen equipment is functioning properly.

Qualifications
- Prior sous chef or similar experience
- Hotel or similar industry experience
- Strong attention to details
