The Shipping Department Manager is responsible for overseeing all daily shipping operations to ensure customer orders are accurately packed, processed, and shipped on time. This position leads the shipping team, maintains an organized and efficient department, monitors order deadlines, and works closely with production and management to ensure completed orders move smoothly through the shipping process.
The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable leading a team in a fast-paced environment where accuracy and meeting deadlines are essential.
Oversee all day-to-day operations of the Shipping Department.
Manage, train, schedule, and provide direction to shipping department employees.
Assign daily tasks and ensure employees understand priorities and deadlines.
Monitor orders that are ready to ship and ensure they are processed in a timely manner.
Ensure all orders are picked, packed, labeled, and shipped accurately.
Verify quantities, products, sizes, colors, and other order details before shipment.
Ensure online store, individual customer, bulk, and business orders are packaged according to company standards.
Coordinate shipping schedules with production and other departments.
Monitor upcoming deadlines and communicate potential delays or issues to management.
Process and oversee shipments through approved shipping carriers and systems.
Ensure shipping labels, packing slips, tracking information, and other documentation are accurate.
Monitor shipping supplies and notify management when boxes, mailers, tape, labels, and other materials need to be reordered.
Maintain an organized, clean, and safe shipping and packing area.
Develop and maintain efficient procedures for receiving completed orders, staging, packing, and shipping.
Previous supervisory or management experience preferred.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Strong communication and leadership skills.
Ability to train, motivate, and hold team members accountable.
Comfortable using computers, shipping software, order-management systems, and standard office equipment.
Ability to problem-solve and make appropriate decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Dependable attendance and punctuality.
Ability to work independently while also collaborating with other departments.
Compensation
$15 - $20 hourly
