Senior Property Management Accountant- AppFolio

Remote | Full-Time | U.S. Property Management

Tide Property Management is looking for an experienced property management accountant who can take real ownership of our accounting function.

This is not a data-entry bookkeeping role.

We need someone who understands U.S. property management accounting, knows their way around AppFolio, catches problems before they become problems, and is comfortable speaking up when something doesn't look right.

You'll work directly with our property management and leadership teams and will be responsible for keeping our property, owner, tenant, and trust accounting clean and accurate.

A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.

Experience with Buildium, Yardi, Rent Manager, or QuickBooks is useful, but AppFolio experience is much more important to us.

The type of person we're looking for

We want someone who doesn't just notice that an account is off.

We want the person who figures out why it's off.

If a trust reconciliation is short $4,000, your instinct should be to trace the transactions, identify the problem, correct it, document what happened, and help make sure it doesn't happen again.

You should be comfortable saying: "This doesn't reconcile, and here's why."

Not: "I noticed this was wrong. What would you like me to do?"

Schedule

This is a full-time remote position.

You must be able to maintain at least 4 hours of overlap with U.S. Eastern Time business hours.

Compensation: $1,800–$2,200 USD per month, depending on experience.

Exceptional candidates with deep AppFolio and U.S. property-management accounting experience may be considered above this range.

Please do not apply if your experience is primarily general bookkeeping without U.S. property-management accounting experience.

This position is remote in India.

• Bank and trust account reconciliations

• Owner statements and owner distributions

• Accounts payable and vendor payments

• Tenant ledgers and receivables

• Security deposit accounting

• Management fee posting

• Property-level income and expense coding

• Journal entries and corrections

• Month-end close

• General ledger cleanup and review

• Identifying accounting discrepancies and resolving them

• 1099 preparation/support

• Helping improve our accounting processes as we grow

• 4+ years of professional accounting/bookkeeping experience

• 2+ years working specifically with U.S. property management companies

• Strong AppFolio experience

• Experience reconciling property management trust accounts

• Experience with owner accounting and owner statements

• Strong understanding of debits, credits, and journal entries

• Excellent Excel or Google Sheets skills

• Strong written and spoken English

• Ability to work independently without waiting to be told what to do

• Confidence communicating with U.S.-based team members

• Close attention to detail
