Sul Lee Law Firm is seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Litigation Attorney to lead a litigation pod within our business litigation practice.

Candidates must have at least 5 years of litigation experience, with 10+ years strongly preferred. The ideal candidate has substantial experience representing small and mid-sized businesses, closely held companies, and business owners. Our practice primarily involves commercial litigation, including partnership and shareholder disputes, business divorces, breach of contract, fiduciary-duty claims, fraud and business torts, construction disputes, and other commercial matters.

Because many of the clients are privately held businesses and business owners, we value attorneys who can provide practical business advice in addition to strong legal advocacy and understand litigation budgets, business objectives, and efficient dispute resolution.

Our Pod Structure

Our litigation practice operates through a pod system, typically consisting of a Senior Attorney, Junior Attorney, Paralegal, and Legal Assistant.

The Senior Attorney leads the pod and is responsible for litigation strategy, client management, quality of work, and development of the team. Senior Attorneys focus on work requiring senior-level judgment while effectively delegating and supervising other aspects of the case.

• Develop and oversee litigation strategy from initial case assessment through resolution or trial;

• Manage client relationships, including regular communication, expectation management, case strategy, budgeting, and practical counseling regarding litigation risks and business objectives;

• Develop and manage discovery strategy, including scope and sequencing of discovery, key depositions, expert issues, and discovery disputes;

• Responsible for substantive motions and briefs, including motions for summary judgment and other dispositive motions, and review and revise substantive work prepared by junior attorneys;

• Argue substantive motions and contested hearings;

• Handle TRO and temporary injunction proceedings, including evidentiary hearings;

• Take and defend key depositions and oversee deposition strategy;

• Lead settlement negotiations and mediations;

• Participate meaningfully in trial preparation and trial;

• Appellate experience considered a strong plus;

• Delegate and supervise work performed by junior attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants; and

• Mentor and develop junior attorneys, progressively giving them responsibility for substantive drafting, discovery, depositions, hearings, client communication, and case management.

• 5+ years of litigation experience; 10+ years strongly preferred

• Strong commercial litigation background

• Proven ability to independently manage cases and client relationships

• Strong substantive writing, discovery, deposition, and courtroom skills

• Ability to lead, supervise, and develop a legal team

• Texas Bar admission in good standing

• Trial, temporary injunction, and/or appellate experience is a plus
