The Law Office of Parag L. Amin, P.C. (“LawPLA”) is seeking an accomplished senior attorney who wants something increasingly difficult to find in private practice: meaningful ownership of sophisticated matters, direct influence over legal strategy, a voice in how the practice operates, and a genuine opportunity to grow in leadership, responsibility, and compensation as the Firm evolves.
Our practice includes complex business litigation, commercial disputes, and employment defense matters that demand more than technical proficiency or task execution. We value attorneys who understand the whole case: identifying issues early, developing strategy with the end in mind, anticipating risks, communicating intelligently with clients, building the evidentiary record deliberately, and moving matters toward resolution or trial with purpose.
We are looking for an attorney who understands that building a successful legal practice requires exceptional legal judgment, disciplined execution, sound business decisions, and the ability to bring out the best in other professionals. We are particularly interested in candidates who have demonstrated leadership through mentoring other attorneys, managing litigation teams, overseeing complex caseloads, improving legal work production, or establishing the professional standards and accountability necessary for a successful practice.
The right candidate will have substantial experience managing complex litigation independently, together with the professional maturity and business acumen to recognize that excellent legal work is only one dimension of an effective practice. Responsibilities will include substantive litigation strategy, motion practice, discovery, depositions, client counseling, negotiations, mediations, and trial preparation and advocacy, with opportunities to contribute to the leadership, development, and operational effectiveness of the legal team.
This opportunity is particularly well suited to an attorney who understands the relationship between legal excellence, organizational leadership, and business performance—and wants to make a meaningful contribution to all three.
We also care about what you are building professionally. LawPLA has been recognized by the Los Angeles Times as a Top Workplace in Southern California, and we are committed to creating an environment where accomplished attorneys can exercise judgment, contribute ideas, influence decisions, and continue developing professionally without disappearing into an unnecessary hierarchy. As the Firm grows, so does the opportunity for the right individual to assume greater responsibility, influence its direction, and help shape the practice they want to lead.
Benefits:
Benefits include health coverage as well as a vacation and paid time off policy to support work-life balance after the probationary period of 90 days is completed
Production bonuses tied to billable-hours performance and matter throughput, with top performers having the opportunity to push past $200,000 in total compensation
INDIVIDUAL APPLICANTS ONLY. NO AGENCIES. PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT THE FIRM DIRECTLY. FOLLOW THE APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS PROVIDED IN THIS JOB POSTING.
Principal Responsibilities
Litigation Strategy & Legal Excellence
Independently manage complex business and civil litigation matters from initial case assessment through resolution, including trial where appropriate.
Develop litigation strategies that balance legal objectives, client interests, economic considerations, and practical outcomes.
Prepare and oversee pleadings, motions, discovery, depositions, mediations, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation.
Exercise sound legal judgment, identify emerging risks, and ensure matters receive the attention and professional rigor they require.
Maintain high standards for legal analysis, work product, accuracy, professionalism, and client representation.
Legal Team Leadership & Development
Provide substantive legal guidance, mentorship, and support to attorneys and legal professionals within assigned areas of responsibility.
Help establish clear expectations for legal work assignments, ownership, quality, deadlines, and follow-through.
Contribute to attorney development through constructive feedback, coaching, and consistent professional leadership.
Support effective delegation and distribution of legal work according to experience, capacity, urgency, and client need.
Demonstrate the judgment, professional maturity, and accountability necessary to earn the confidence of attorneys, staff, and firm leadership.
Legal Production & Matter Management
Maintain visibility into assigned legal matters and ensure that work progresses deliberately and consistently toward completion.
Identify stalled matters, competing priorities, capacity constraints, and other barriers to timely legal work production.
Help strengthen the firm's approach to matter assignment, workload management, attorney utilization, and work-product review.
Promote disciplined case management, timely client communication, and proactive resolution of issues.
Understand the relationship between attorney production, matter progression, client outcomes, and the firm's financial performance.
Business & Operational Leadership
Work collaboratively with the Managing Partner and Director of Operations to strengthen the systems supporting legal work production.
Contribute to the development and refinement of legal workflows, operating standards, accountability practices, and performance measures.
Understand how personnel, attorney capacity, case strategy, and work production influence revenue, profitability, and client experience.
Bring sound business judgment to discussions involving legal resources, operational priorities, growth, and organizational effectiveness.
Identify opportunities to improve the consistency, predictability, and scalability of the firm's legal services.
The Leadership Qualities We Value
We are especially interested in candidates who demonstrate:
The ability to establish expectations, delegate effectively, and hold themselves and others accountable.
Strong organizational judgment and an understanding of how legal work moves through a professional-services business.
The ability to recognize operational problems, identify underlying causes, and contribute practical solutions.
Comfort working with production data, performance expectations, and business metrics without losing sight of legal quality or professional responsibility.
The maturity to address difficult issues directly, professionally, and constructively.
An interest in developing an organization rather than simply maintaining an individual caseload.
A demonstrated commitment to improving the performance, reliability, and effectiveness of the teams with whom they work.
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of California, with a satisfactory professional and disciplinary record.
Substantial civil litigation experience, with particular emphasis on business litigation, commercial disputes, and related matters.
Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex litigation from initial case assessment through resolution, including discovery, depositions, substantive motion practice, negotiations, mediation, and trial preparation.
Strong courtroom presence, litigation judgment, and meaningful experience practicing in California state courts.
Exceptional legal research, analytical, writing, advocacy, and client counseling capabilities.
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, exercise independent professional judgment, meet deadlines, and maintain consistent ownership of assigned matters.
Experience mentoring attorneys, supervising legal professionals, directing legal work, or contributing to the development and performance of a litigation team.
Strong organizational and business judgment, including an understanding of how legal strategy, attorney capacity, matter progression, and client service influence the performance of a law firm.
Excellent interpersonal and client communication skills, including the ability to explain complex legal issues, risks, and strategic recommendations with clarity, professionalism, and appropriate judgment.
A demonstrated record of personal accountability, sound decision-making, proactive problem-solving, and reliable follow-through.
Proficiency with Microsoft 365, electronic document and PDF management, e-signature platforms, and modern legal practice and matter-management systems.
Compensation
$200,000 – $300,000 annually based on experience and performance
