Residential Window Cleaning & Holiday Lighting Technician — Daytime
American Cleaning • Boise, ID, US
Posted 1 month ago
Daytime. Residential. Home every evening.
This job is on our residential crew, in people’s homes across the Treasure Valley. It is not our nightly commercial work. You are out in a company truck during the day, Monday through Friday, and home for dinner.
American Cleaning has been a family-owned Boise company since 1949. Idaho Premier Window & Carpet Cleaning is our residential division, and that is the crew you would be joining.
We are hanging holiday lights right now. Starting this month, you are on rooflines through the first part of January. After takedown, you move to our year-round residential work.
Depending on the season, your day looks like:
Installing and removing holiday lighting
Interior and exterior window cleaning
Carpet, upholstery, tile, and grout
Gutters and exterior washing
Working directly with the customer to make sure they are happy before you leave
You will meet good people, stay active, and see the result of your work the same hour you finish it. No nights, no desk, and no two days exactly alike.
Schedule: Full-time, daytime, Monday through Friday. Occasional Saturdays during peak season.
Pay: $19 to $21 an hour for your first 90 days, depending on what you bring. At 90 days, you sit down for a review. Our experienced high performers earn between $22 and $25 an hour once they are up to speed and productive, and that is the path this job is on. Tips come on top of that, and our customers are encouraged to show their appreciation for good work.
Getting started: Your first week is paid training. At the end of it, we both decide whether it is a fit. From there, you are in a 90-day introductory period with a lead trainer assigned to you, hands-on coaching, and real check-ins along the way. You will not be sent out alone until you are ready.
What you get
$19 to $21 an hour to start, with a review at 90 days
Experienced high performers on our team earn $22 to $25 an hour once they are up to speed and productive
A $300 bonus when you clear your 90-day review. On your paycheck, not a gift card.
Tips on top of your hourly pay
Health, vision, and dental plans
One week of paid time off to start
Five days of holiday pay
A company truck and every tool you need
Paid training and a real path up. We promote from within, and many of our leads started on the crew they now run.
Where we work: Boise, Meridian, Eagle, Star, Nampa, Caldwell, Garden City, and Kuna.
In this job the cleaning is only half the work. The other half is how the customer feels from the moment you pull up to the moment you drive away. In every home you will:
Make a great first impression. Text the customer when you are on your way, arrive on time, and greet them by name in a clean uniform.
Listen first. Walk the home with the customer before you start. Learn what matters most to them and agree on what done looks like.
Treat their home like your own. Shoe covers, drop cloths, and protection for furniture, floors, landscaping and pets. Leave every room cleaner than you found it.
Keep them in the loop. Tell them what you are doing, how long it will take, and anything you notice along the way. Nobody should have to wonder what is happening in their own home.
Deliver work they can see. Clean to a standard that makes customers want to show it off, and take before and after photos so they can see the difference too.
Finish with a walkthrough. Show them the finished work, ask if everything is right, and fix anything that is not before you leave.
Help, do not sell. If you notice stained grout, dirty screens, or a house that needs washing, mention it. They will appreciate that you noticed.
Handle problems with care. If something goes wrong, own it, tell the customer honestly, and make it right. That is how customers become customers for life.
Show up ready. Keep your truck, equipment and supplies clean and stocked, morning and night, so every visit starts well.
We will train you on the equipment. What we cannot train is who you are. You are the right fit if you:
Are real with people. You tell the truth about your work, even when you missed something.
Take care of people. You are friendly and calm in someone’s home, and you look out for your crew.
Want to learn and grow. You would like new skills, and maybe to lead a crew someday.
Respect what is not yours. You treat customers’ homes and company equipment like your own.
You will also need:
Comfort on ladders and at height. Holiday lighting means roofs.
The ability to lift 50 pounds and handle hoses and equipment all day.
Willingness to work outside in the cold. Lighting season is November and December in Idaho.
A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
Willingness to pass a background check, since you will be working inside customers’ homes.
Legal authorization to work in the US.
Window cleaning, carpet or holiday lighting experience is a plus but not required. A great attitude and a strong work ethic matter more to us than a resume.
Compensation
$19 - $25 hourly
American Cleaning Service has been a family-owned Boise company since 1949. It started with one man, Joe “Mopsie” Schmoeger, going door to door washing windows.
Seventy-seven years and three generations later, we run two sides of the business. Our commercial crews clean about 2.8 million square feet a night for places like Boise State, St. Luke’s, Saint Alphonsus, the City of Boise, and The Grove Hotel. Idaho Premier Window & Carpet Cleaning is our residential side, and that is the daytime crew this job is on.
Clients stay with us an average of ten years, and that only happens when the people doing the work care. We promote from within whenever we can.
We run on three things with our people. Be real. Take care of your people. Learn and grow.
