Posted 4 hours ago

Wetherington Homes in Chesapeake, VA, is looking to add a Residential Project Manager to our team. This position oversees Site Superintendents and is responsible for project scheduling, plan and order preparation, meeting project completion dates, quality assurance, and resolving on-site challenges. We're looking for a strong leader who is hardworking, dependable, highly organized, and brings a solid background in residential construction management.

  • Oversee and support Site Superintendents across multiple projects in Hampton Roads, VA and Northeastern, NC, ensuring homes are built to plans and quality standards.

  • Provide input to leadership team regarding preliminary design, shop drawing review, and feasibility analysis.

  • Develop and maintain project schedules, coordinate trade sequencing across all active job sites.

  • Prepare, review and approve plans & material orders before they go to the field.

  • Interpret and understand site plans, including house placement, required setbacks, grading elevations, and utility locations.

  • Conduct quality assurance walkthroughs and inspections throughout the construction process, catching and correcting issues before they become costly.

  • Respond to and resolve on-site emergencies, serving as the point of escalation when a Superintendent needs backup.

  • Track milestones and deadlines across all projects, proactively addressing anything that puts a completion date at risk.

  • Oversee homeowner orientations with Site Superintendent & Sales Agents, ensuring a smooth turnover and closing process.

  • Assist the warranty department, determining what is and is not covered and ensuring homeowner issues are addressed promptly and correctly.

  • Take an active, ongoing role in training, communicating with, and developing Superintendents and field personnel.

You must be an optimistic and positive person. Our company is composed of a small group of people and our culture is very important to us.

You must be a team player. While you will be leading our Superintendents, you will also be working closely with a small team of staff who are all accountable to each other. If you can't get along with one another and work together to get the job done right the first time, this is not the job for you.

You need to be able to talk to people (all people... including employees, subcontractors, buyers, homeowners, visitors, salespeople and the general public) in a manner that is polite, professional, well-spoken and puts them at ease. You cannot "talk down" to anyone that you deal with in our office or on our job sites.

If you are one of those people who seems to get sick on Thursday night, Friday morning, or Sunday night and that keeps you from coming to work and being productive on Fridays and Mondays, this really is not the job for you. We understand that everyone gets sick, but we also know there are people out there who get sick when it is convenient for them and don't care what their long weekend does to the rest of the team. If this is you, please do not apply for this position, because if we hired you, it would not be fair to the rest of the staff, and your employment with us would end very quickly.

Additionally, if you are above walking a job site, picking up trash, pulling weeds, or pitching in wherever needed to keep a project on track, this is not the job for you.

If you are hired, you will be part of a wonderful team of people who work hard to get the job done right the first time and take pride in the work that they do. You will be part of a team that is rewarded for hard work. Our team enjoys coming to work, being productive, and enjoying each other's company.
