Plumbing Estimator – Covarent Plumbing
Location: Richardson, TX (DFW area) | Type: Full-time | Pay: $40K-60K + Commission (Based off project margin scale)

You’ll prepare preliminary budgets, conceptual estimates, and detailed estimates, for projects of all sizes, for both residential (single family/ multifamily and commercial). You’ll work closely with our pricing team and project managers to turn plan sets into competitive, accurate bids.

Position Details

• Review RFPs, Basis of Design documents, and drawings to define scope and determine what each estimate needs to include

• Analyze plans and use takeoff software to perform material takeoffs and apply unit cost pricing

• Red-line documents as needed to flag scope gaps, conflicts, or clarifications

• Compare bid package documents and project updates, track and adjust quantities, and resolve discrepancies between revisions

• Request subcontractor bids and supplier quotes, and build working relationships with vendors and supply houses

Nice to Have

• Commercial and multifamily estimating experience

• Familiarity with local DFW codes and supply houses

• Ability to build relationships with trusted suppliers

• Texas plumbing license (helpful but not required)

• Prepare preliminary budgets, conceptual estimates, and detailed estimates for small to medium-size projects

• Deliver complete, accurate bids on time and meet every bid deadline

• Keep takeoffs, pricing, and quotes organized and documented so estimates can be reviewed and checked

• Keep unit costs and material pricing current with supplier and market changes

• Write clear scope summaries, inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications for each bid

• Work with the pricing team on final bid review and pricing decisions

• Hand off awarded projects to project managers with a clear estimate breakdown and scope notes

• Track bid results and use win/loss feedback to improve future estimates

• [2+] years of plumbing estimating experience, or plumbing field experience with strong plan-reading skills

• Solid understanding of plumbing systems: DWV, domestic water, gas, fixtures, and equipment

• Able to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications

• Experience with takeoff software (Bluebeam preferred) and Excel

• Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working to bid deadlines

• Clear communicator with subs, vendors, and the internal team
