About the Role

We are seeking an Associate Attorney with a minimum of 2 years of personal injury experience handling both pre-litigation and litigation matters.

This is not a role for someone who wants to simply manage a docket. We are looking for an attorney who takes ownership of cases, understands how to build value from the beginning, communicates effectively with clients, negotiates strategically with insurance carriers, and is prepared to litigate when an insurance company refuses to offer fair compensation.

The ideal candidate understands that strong litigation begins with strong case development. You should be comfortable evaluating liability and damages, directing case strategy, negotiating claims, drafting pleadings and discovery, taking depositions, attending mediations and hearings, and moving cases toward trial.

You will work closely with our attorneys, case managers, paralegals, and support staff to ensure every case is positioned for the best possible outcome.

Physical Requirements

This position is primarily office-based during regular business hours. The attorney must also be able to attend court appearances, depositions, mediations, inspections, client meetings, and trials as required.

What You’ll Do

• Manage a caseload of personal injury matters from pre-litigation through litigation and resolution.

• Evaluate new and existing cases for liability, damages, insurance coverage, and overall case strategy.

• Develop cases strategically from the beginning with litigation and trial in mind.

• Review medical records, bills, accident reports, insurance policies, investigative materials, and other evidence.

• Provide legal guidance and direction to case managers and support staff throughout the pre-litigation process.

• Review and approve demand packages and develop negotiation strategies.

• Negotiate aggressively and professionally with insurance adjusters and defense counsel.

• Determine when cases should transition from pre-litigation into litigation.

• Draft and review petitions, motions, pleadings, discovery, and other litigation documents.

• Draft and respond to interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admission, and disclosures.

• Take and defend depositions, including parties, witnesses, experts, and corporate representatives.

• Attend hearings, mediations, inspections, and other litigation proceedings.

• Develop litigation strategy, including expert selection, discovery planning, and case valuation.

• Prepare cases for trial and participate in trial as necessary.

• Maintain consistent communication with clients regarding case strategy, developments, expectations, and resolution.

• Work collaboratively with attorneys, paralegals, case managers, medical records staff, and other members of the firm.

• Ensure deadlines, statutes of limitation, discovery obligations, and court orders are properly calendared and satisfied.

• Maintain accurate and timely case documentation in Filevine.

• Uphold the firm’s standards for client service, professionalism, ethics, and results.

What We’re Looking For

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

• Active and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.

• Minimum of 2 years of personal injury experience.

• Demonstrated experience handling both pre-litigation and litigation personal injury cases.

• Strong understanding of Texas personal injury law, civil procedure, discovery, and evidentiary issues.

• Experience evaluating liability, damages, insurance coverage, and case value.

• Strong negotiation and case-resolution skills.

• Experience drafting pleadings, motions, and written discovery.

• Experience taking and defending depositions.

• Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.

• Strong client communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to independently manage deadlines, priorities, and a substantial caseload.

• Strong judgment and the ability to make strategic decisions regarding case development and resolution.

• Highly organized, detail-oriented, accountable, and results-driven.

• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.

Bonus Points If You Have

• Plaintiff-side personal injury experience.

• First-chair or second-chair trial experience.

• Experience handling commercial vehicle and 18-wheeler cases.

• Experience with catastrophic injury or complex liability cases.

• Experience with premises liability, products liability, dram shop, TBIs, or wrongful death matters.

• Experience with UM/UIM claims and litigation.

• Experience using Filevine.

• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
