OConnor Family LawHanover, MA, US

Description

Offices in both Hanover and Westborough/Worcester.

We're not looking for someone who simply wants to process paperwork. We're looking for a paralegal who wants to help build the future of family law.

At O'Connor Family Law, you'll work on challenging divorce and custody cases that require critical thinking, attention to detail, compassion, and sound judgment. You'll collaborate closely with attorneys and the rest of our team to solve problems, support clients through difficult moments, and continuously improve the way we practice law.

We are actively integrating artificial intelligence and other technology into our workflows to reduce administrative work, improve efficiency, and help make quality legal representation more affordable. If learning new systems and finding better ways to work excites you, you'll fit right in.

Our culture matters just as much as your experience. We believe in supporting one another, assuming positive intent, communicating openly, and working together toward a common goal. We don't have room for office politics, gossip, or a "that's not my job" mentality. We value people who are adaptable, accountable, collaborative, and excited to grow alongside a firm that is constantly evolving.

If you're looking for predictable work where every day is the same, this probably isn't the right position.

If you enjoy solving complex problems, embracing change, focusing on finding solutions, and being part of a team that's building something exceptional, we'd love to meet you.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a family law caseload from intake through resolution, ensuring deadlines, court filings, and client communications are handled accurately and promptly.
  • Draft both simple and complex pleadings, financial statements, discovery, correspondence, motions, and other legal documents with exceptional attention to detail. Our paralegals are proactive in our litigation preparation rather than simply responsive.
  • Serve as a trusted point of contact for clients by providing compassionate, professional communication during some of the most difficult times in their lives.
  • Work collaboratively with attorneys and team members to develop case strategy, solve problems, and deliver outstanding client service.
  • Proactively identify issues before they become problems and take ownership of finding solutions rather than waiting to be directed.
  • Embrace new technology, including artificial intelligence tools, to improve workflows, increase efficiency, and reduce litigation costs while maintaining the highest standards of quality and confidentiality.
  • Continuously look for opportunities to improve systems, processes, and the client experience, and be willing to share ideas that help the entire team succeed.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift, cases are complex, and every day brings new challenges.
  • Contribute to a positive, professional, team-first culture by communicating respectfully, supporting colleagues, and helping create solutions rather than conflict.
  • Maintain the highest level of professionalism, discretion, and integrity when handling confidential client information and sensitive legal matters.
  • Be committed to continuous learning, professional growth, and helping O'Connor Family Law continue to redefine what exceptional family law representation looks like.

Qualifications

Required:

  • At least 3 years of family law paralegal experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Massachusetts Probate and Family Court procedures, including pleadings, discovery, financial statements, and court filings. (RI or NH as well is a plus).
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment while tracking a full caseload for 3-4 attorneys.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with a high level of professionalism and empathy.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with attorneys and team members.
  • Comfortable learning and using new technology, including artificial intelligence tools, to improve efficiency and client service.
  • A growth mindset with a willingness to embrace change, continuously improve, and adapt as our firm evolves.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and solve problems rather than simply follow instructions.

Preferred:

  • Experience using Clio Manage and Vincent, Lawmatics, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat/FireFox, Hona, or other legal technology platforms.
  • Experience identifying opportunities to improve workflows, systems, or client experiences.

What Will Make You Successful Here: If you . . .

  • Believe the best ideas can come from anyone and enjoy working as part of a collaborative team across all firm departments.
  • Bring solutions instead of complaints and approach challenges with curiosity rather than resistance.
  • Assume positive intent, communicate respectfully, and contribute to a drama-free, team-first culture.
  • Are excited by complex legal work and enjoy learning new skills instead of avoiding unfamiliar challenges or trying to differentiate between "attorney drafting" and "paralegal drafting" work.
  • Takes ownership of their work, follows through on commitments, and is willing to be held accountable.
  • Wants to help shape the future of family law by embracing innovation and using technology to better serve clients.

This position is probably not the right fit if you prefer doing things "the way they've always been done," dislike change, thrive on workplace drama, or are uncomfortable learning new technology or taking on new challenges.

Compensation

$65,000 - $80,000/year
