Paralegal - Estate Planning & Probate

Blue Mahoe Law • Fort Lauderdale, FL, US

Are you the paralegal attorney's trust? You know a petition is wrong before it reaches the judge. You calendar the creditor period the day the notice is published. You take quiet pride in a file that is clean, complete, and on time.

Blue Mahoe, PLLC is a growing estate planning, asset protection, elder law, probate, and guardianship firm in downtown Fort Lauderdale. We built our office for growth and plan to keep expanding.

We are looking for an experienced paralegal who wants a long-term home: someone who takes ownership, works without being chased, and wants to grow with the practice rather than pass through it.

Estate Planning

  • Prepare draft wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, durable powers of attorney, health care surrogate designations, living wills, and deeds from attorney design notes using WealthCounsel for attorney review.

  • Manage trust funding: deeds, assignments, beneficiary designation updates, and account retitling, followed through to confirmation.

  • Coordinate signing meetings, including witnesses, notarization, and final document sets.

Probate

  • Prepare petitions for administration, oaths, designations, proposed orders, and letters. Also prepare summary administration pleadings.

  • Handle Notice to Creditors publication and service, and track the claims period.

  • Prepare inventories, accountings, and discharge pleadings. E-file through the Florida Courts E-Filing Portal.

Guardianship

  • Assist with petitions, initial and annual guardianship plans, inventories, and annual accountings.

  • Track every court-ordered and statutory deadline so nothing lapses.

Case Management

  • Maintain matters, tasks, and deadlines in our practice management system.

  • Gather client documents and send status updates to clients, under attorney direction.

  • Help build the checklists and procedures that let the firm scale.

  • Hold client interviews to gather information about their legal problems
  • Perform administrative duties such as answering phone calls and keeping our case filing system organized so all documents are readily accessible

Who We're Looking For

  • 3+ years as a paralegal in Florida estate planning and/or probate; 5+ preferred.

  • Hands-on Florida probate filing experience and comfort with the E-Filing Portal.

  • Guardianship experience strongly preferred.

  • Paralegal certificate or degree preferred. A Florida Registered Paralegal (FRP), NALA Certified Paralegal, or NFPA designation is a plus.

  • Florida Notary Public commission, or willingness to obtain one within 90 days.

  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong writing, and the judgment to know when to escalate.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365. Document-assembly software (WealthCounsel) is a plus.

  • You want to stay, grow, and be part of building something.

What We Offer

  • $30–$38/hour, depending on experience, with overtime paid as required by law.

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance; short- and long-term disability.

  • Professional development and a clear path to grow with the firm.

  • Direct work with attorneys, real responsibility, and a team that values precision.

  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and talent for writing and grammar
  • At least 3 years of experience in legal services under an attorney or lawyer in a law firm setting
  • Candidates who have completed a paralegal professional certification or have advanced paralegal education will receive preference
  • Must have great time-management skills, and organizational skills

Compensation

$50,000 - $61,000 yearly
