CCCN seeks a Nutrition Program Specialist to support the Empire State Family Child Care Collaborative (ESFCCC) by promoting healthy nutrition practices among participating family child care providers. The Nutrition Program Specialist will provide nutrition education, training, and technical assistance; support compliance with Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) meal pattern requirements; and assist providers in creating nutritious, culturally responsive, and developmentally appropriate meals for children. The Specialist will also support nutrition and wellness initiatives, provider engagement, community partnerships, program outreach, and required data collection and reporting.

• Provide nutrition education, training, and technical assistance to family child care providers participating in the ESFCCC Program.

• Review menus for compliance with CACFP meal pattern requirements and provide recommendations for improvement.

• Enter, review, and maintain provider menus in My Food Program software.

• Assist providers in developing nutritious, culturally responsive, and developmentally appropriate meal plans for children.

• Offer guidance on food purchasing, meal preparation, food safety, and healthy eating practices.

• Conduct nutrition-focused workshops, coaching sessions, and educational activities for providers, families, and community stakeholders.

• Develop and distribute nutrition education materials, resources, and digital content.

• Support providers in implementing gardening, farm-to-child care, and other nutrition-related enrichment activities when applicable.

• Maintain accurate records and documentation of provider engagement, menu reviews, trainings, and technical assistance activities.

• Collect, monitor, and report required program data in accordance with ESFCC and CACFP guidelines.

• Collaborate with community organizations, health professionals, and local partners to expand nutrition and wellness resources for providers and families.

• Submit monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as required.

• Participate in outreach and recruitment activities to support program growth and engagement.

• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor(s).

• Bachelor’s degree, with coursework in nutrition, public health, early childhood education, education, and/or community engagement; OR an associate’s degree, with coursework in nutrition, public health, and/or early childhood education AND one year of experience in gardening education or community engagement related to farming, farmers' markets, or community gardens.

• Maintain an active ServSafe Certification (or obtain ServSafe Certification within 30 days of employment) and obtain, maintain, and renew any other job-related certifications required for the position.

• Fluency in English and Spanish, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients in both languages, is required.

• Willingness and reliable means to travel throughout Nassau County.

• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends, as necessary.

• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take initiative.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage individuals and families from diverse backgrounds.

• Collaborative team player who is well-organized, creative, and adaptable.

• Experience providing community-based education, outreach, or related programming.

• Experience creating, editing, and managing digital media content.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds as needed to perform job-related duties.
