Mortgage Loan Officer Trainee — No Mortgage Experience Required
Roseth Mortgage LLC | Sales Career Opportunity | Training & Mentorship
Great with people? Willing to work hard? We'll help you learn the mortgage business.
You don't need years of mortgage experience to become a successful Loan Officer.
But you do need something we can't teach: a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and the willingness to consistently do what you say you're going to do.
At Roseth Mortgage, we're looking for motivated individuals who want to build a long-term career in mortgage lending.
We'll provide the guidance, technology, mentorship, and a path toward becoming a licensed Mortgage Loan Officer. You bring the effort.
Why We're Hiring People Without Mortgage Experience
We believe great Loan Officers can come from many backgrounds.
Maybe you've worked in automotive sales, retail, hospitality, insurance, customer service, or another relationship-driven profession.
Maybe you've never considered the mortgage industry.
What matters most to us is your ability to connect with people, follow through on commitments, accept coaching, and maintain a positive attitude when things get challenging.
We're looking for someone who wants to learn a profession, not just find another job.
What We'll Help You Learn
Qualified candidates may be eligible for a structured training path that includes:
Mortgage licensing education and exam preparation through UWM's Broker X program, subject to program eligibility and availability.
Guidance through the NMLS licensing process.
Mortgage industry fundamentals, products, and loan guidelines.
Hands-on mentorship from experienced mortgage professionals.
Training on building and maintaining Realtor referral relationships.
Access to HomeSync, our proprietary mortgage and Realtor relationship platform.
Practical instruction on prospecting, follow-up, communication, and customer service.
UWM's Broker X program may also include in-person training at UWM following licensing milestones. Specific education, travel, scheduling, and program arrangements will be confirmed during the hiring process.
What You Should Know Before Applying
This is not a passive sales position.
You will need to study, pass licensing requirements, make calls, follow up with people, and work consistently to develop relationships.
Some days will be frustrating. Some people won't answer. Some Realtor introductions won't become business.
We expect you to stay professional, keep learning, and continue doing the work.
Our company and technology are growing. We welcome thoughtful feedback, but we also expect our team members to follow established processes and help improve them constructively.
We can teach mortgage lending. We cannot supply your motivation.
Compensation & Career Path
This position is intended to develop into a commission-based Mortgage Loan Officer role.
Licensed Loan Officer compensation is generally 225 basis points (2.25%) of the loan amount, less a $995 company fee per closed loan, subject to the applicable compensation agreement.
Pre-licensing compensation, employment classification, training expenses, and the transition to commissioned origination will be explained before an offer is accepted.
There is no guarantee of licensing, funded loans, or a specific earnings level.
How to Apply
Along with your résumé, tell us in a cover letter:
Describe a time you had to work consistently toward a goal even when you weren't seeing immediate results. What did you do, and what happened?
We're not looking for the perfect answer. We want to understand how you approach challenges.
If you're willing to learn, work hard, talk to people, and take ownership of your future, we'd like to meet you.
Your Primary Responsibility: Build Relationships.
Roseth Mortgage invests in Realtor outreach.
Our team introduces Realtors to technology and marketing tools designed to help them grow their businesses.
As you become qualified and licensed, you'll learn how to develop those introductions into long-term professional relationships.
You'll be expected to:
Make calls and initiate conversations confidently.
Follow up consistently with assigned contacts.
Learn how to conduct Realtor introductions and interviews.
Keep accurate notes and track your next steps.
Attend training and actively apply feedback.
Learn mortgage products, processes, and compliance requirements.
Deliver excellent service to clients and referral partners.
Develop your own professional relationships over time.
Before licensing, duties will be limited to activities legally permitted for an unlicensed employee.
What We're Looking For
Mortgage experience is NOT required.
We're more interested in your habits and character than your résumé.
Ideal candidates demonstrate:
A strong, consistent work ethic.
A positive, solutions-oriented attitude.
Confidence speaking with new people.
Willingness to make calls and handle rejection.
Coachability and the ability to follow instructions.
Reliability and personal accountability.
Organization and attention to detail.
Comfort learning new technology.
Genuine interest in building a long-term career.
You must also be eligible to pursue the required mortgage licensing.
Compensation
$80,000 - $120,000 yearly
Roseth Mortgage is a mortgage brokerage based in Elk River, Minnesota, licensed across six states and growing.
We're small on purpose, and we compete on something other than size. Rather than trying to outspend larger lenders, we built HomeSync — our own platform that gives real estate agents genuine local visibility. Agents claim the cities they work, we build and rank their pages, and they get a durable marketing asset no other lender is handing them. It's not a co-branded flyer. It's something that keeps working whether or not they send us a loan that month.
That's the strategy: give first, earn the relationship, let the business follow. Our best-producing loan officer built her book doing exactly that.
We believe fifteen strong agent relationships beat a hundred weak ones, and that technology should remove work rather than create it. We're independent, so decisions get made fast — and the person you'd work for is the person who owns the company.
