Materials Coordinator - Receiving, Kitting & Staging
The Materials Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that all materials required for production are received, verified, organized, and staged in advance of scheduled manufacturing jobs. This position serves as the critical link between Receiving, Purchasing, Inventory Control, and Production by proactively preparing materials to support on-time job starts and uninterrupted production flow.
Receive incoming materials and verify quantities against purchase orders and packing slips.
Inspect incoming shipments for visible damage or discrepancies.
Safely unload trucks and move materials using forklifts and other material-handling equipment.
Coordinate with Quality Control for incoming inspections when required.
Ensure materials are properly identified, labeled, and transferred into inventory.
Resolve receiving discrepancies with Purchasing and suppliers.
Maintain an organized, safe, and efficient receiving area.
Review the production schedule daily to identify upcoming jobs.
Pull materials required for scheduled manufacturing orders.
Use a forklift and other material-handling equipment to transport and stage materials safely.
Stage materials in designated production areas according to established priorities.
Verify staged materials match BOM requirements and job quantities.
Ensure all components are available before releasing jobs to production.
Coordinate with Production Supervisors to adjust priorities as schedules change.
Monitor upcoming jobs for potential material shortages.
Notify Purchasing and Production of shortages before they impact manufacturing.
Assist in locating missing inventory.
Recommend substitute materials when approved through Engineering or Purchasing.
Help maintain uninterrupted material flow throughout production.
Utilize Infor Syteline ERP to access bills of material, verify inventory availability, complete receiving transactions, process material transfers, and update staging status.
Ensure all material transactions are completed accurately and promptly.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Technical or manufacturing coursework preferred.
Experience
2–5 years of manufacturing, warehouse, inventory, receiving, or materials experience preferred.
Prior forklift operating experience required.
Experience safely loading, unloading, moving, and staging large or heavy materials.
Experience with ERP systems, preferably Infor Syteline.
Experience supporting production in a manufacturing environment.
Current forklift certification preferred, or ability to obtain certification upon hire.
Knowledge and Skills
Safe and proficient operation of forklifts, pallet jacks, and related material-handling equipment.
Understanding of bills of material.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Basic computer proficiency, including ERP systems, Excel, and Microsoft Office.
Physical Requirements
Frequently lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
Operate a forklift for extended periods as required.
Stand and walk for extended periods.
Push, pull, bend, reach, and climb as necessary.
Work in warehouse, receiving, yard, and production environments.
Compensation
$20 - $23 hourly
