Logistics & Procurement Coordinator

Plantain Products Company - Chifles • Miami, FL, US

Posted 4 hours ago

Plantain Products Company - Chifles, the number one plantain chip brand in the U.S. by dollar sales, is hiring a Logistics and Procurement Coordinator in Miami-Dade. You will own daily freight quoting and booking, shipment coordination, purchase orders for packaging, racks and displays, and fleet compliance scheduling. Execution done well and done reliably, reporting to the Director of Operations and Logistics.

This role keeps product moving and orders flowing every day. This is an individual contributor role; it does not manage people.

Full-time, on-site. Pay is $60,000 to $75,000 per year. Benefits include health insurance, a 401(k) match and paid time off.

First 90 days

  • Take over daily logistics and purchasing through a 90-day handover, working beside the people who run it today.

  • Run the freight quoting cycle and the weekly delivery schedule without supervision.

  • Keep the carrier and supplier scorecard current.

How we evaluate

A conversation, then a practical exercise based on real logistics and purchasing work. Details are shared with candidates who move forward.

Chifles is an equal opportunity employer. We consider all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status or any other protected characteristic.

Freight and daily logistics

  • Freight quoting and carrier booking, the largest single piece of the job. Solicit and compare FTL and LTL rates daily across our broker and carrier bench, hold a lane to a ceiling, and book.

  • Live shipment coordination and exceptions: bills of lading and corrections, pickup confirmations and reschedules, trailer status, refused shipments, damage and shortage claims.

  • Retailer purchase order cross-check, near daily, across our club and retail accounts: read each incoming PO against what was quoted and what will ship, and catch the leakage before it becomes a deduction. Order entry itself sits with the customer service team.

  • Build and publish the weekly DSD delivery schedule to our independent distributor network and the internal sales and operations team.

  • Purchase order reconciliation with brokers, mapping retailer PO lines and ship dates to SKUs.

  • Packaging and inbound supplier documentation, including case and state-specific label specifications and inbound container paperwork.

  • Share ship dates and order volumes with the warehouse team so it can plan the week.

Purchase orders and follow-through

  • Place and manage purchase orders for film, packaging and other non-fruit inputs, tracking lead times and reorder points against the production plan.

  • Own rack and display purchasing end to end: quantities against the program, lead times, delivery to the plant, and the paperwork behind each order.

  • Approve packaging box purchase orders prepared by the warehouse team before they are sent.

  • Keep the carrier and supplier scorecard current: on-time-in-full, fill rate, cost variance against quote.

  • Check carrier invoices against the quoted rate and flag every variance.

  • Work inside the freight and spend limits the Director sets, and escalate above them.

  • Oversee the weekly inventory reconciliation in the ERP: check that each category owner completed their count, follow up on the ones that did not, and escalate variances.

  • Handle day-to-day operational exceptions, including some outside normal hours.

Fleet

  • DOT compliance for our trucks and drivers: files, inspections, renewals and the calendar behind them. Low frequency, zero tolerance for a lapse.

  • Truck and trailer maintenance scheduling across owned and leased units, so a unit out of service never surprises the delivery schedule.

  • 2 to 4 years in logistics, freight, shipping or purchasing, in food, CPG, distribution or manufacturing.

  • Hands-on experience booking FTL and LTL freight and working with brokers and carriers.

  • Comfortable working inside an ERP rather than around it in spreadsheets. Acumatica experience is a plus.

  • Solid Excel, and the care to keep a running scorecard accurate.

  • Demonstrated AI proficiency. A requirement, not a preference. We use AI tools daily across the company, and you will be expected to do the same.

  • Bilingual, Spanish and English. Much of the plant floor and warehouse work in Spanish.

  • Organized under load, and willing to chase a carrier until you get an answer.

Compensation

$60,000 - $75,000 yearly
