Description
De Wit Immigration Law is hiring a bilingual Legal Assistant for our Miami Shores office. You will support our attorneys and paralegals on real cases for visionaries, investors, and professionals from around the world who are building their careers and companies in the United States.
This role offers more than document handling. You will be a primary point of contact for our active clients and learn how business immigration cases move from consultation to approval. If you have relevant experience or are talented and motivated to learn, we will teach you the ins and outs of business immigration and immigration-related federal litigation practice. The role is in person at our Miami Shores office, with full-time and part-time schedules available. Compensation is $22 to $30 hourly, plus benefits.
About our firm: De Wit Immigration Law is a Miami-based firm focused on business immigration and federal immigration litigation. We are deliberately low-volume: we take fewer cases and do them exceptionally well, and our reputation reflects it. We use technology to work efficiently, and we reward ownership and results. Our team is hybrid, with members in Miami, Latin America, and Europe, and this role is based in our Miami Shores office.
What you will do: serve as a primary point of contact for our active clients in English and Spanish. Prepare and organize immigration filings, including forms, support letters, and supporting evidence. Communicate with clients to gather information and provide case updates. Maintain client files and our case management system, and track deadlines on assigned cases. Schedule appointments and agency interviews. Conduct basic legal research under an attorney's supervision. Handle incoming and outgoing case correspondence and application packages. Coordinate billing matters with our administrative team.
Qualifications: You are fully fluent in English and Spanish, spoken and written — this is required. You write clearly and communicate confidently with clients. You are organized, manage your time well, and meet deadlines with close attention to detail. You are comfortable learning new software and tools. A bachelor's or associate's degree helps, and law-firm experience is a plus, but strong administrative skills and clear motivation to learn count just as much.
Benefits: Health insurance (the firm pays up to 99% of the employee premium on the benchmark plan) and vision coverage. 401(k) with an employer match of up to 3.5% of pay. 15 days of PTO per year (prorated for part-time), 10 paid holidays, and a paid day off on your birthday.
De Wit Immigration Law is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
