Legal Assistant

Brighter Day LawColorado Springs, CO, US

Posted 3 hours ago

Brighter Day Law helps families navigate difficult transitions with preparation, integrity, and steady legal guidance. We are looking for a Legal Assistant to join our Colorado Springs office.

For many of the clients, the Legal Assistant is the first person they meet after they decide to work with us. That first conversation, whether it's a phone call or someone walking through our door, sets the tone for everything that follows. We are looking for someone who can hold that moment with warmth and steadiness, while also handling the detailed, fast-moving work that keeps a case on track.

Legal Assistants at Brighter Day Law support our paralegals and attorneys across the full life of a case, from intake through hearings and trial preparation. You will help keep documents organized, deadlines met, and communication clear, for clients, for opposing counsel, and for the team you work alongside.

We Offer:

  • Base pay plus benefits, including firm-covered medical and life insurance

  • 401(k) with employer contributions

  • Paid time off in accordance with firm policy

  • Merit-based raises and bonuses

  • A structured, coaching-oriented environment with clear expectations and direct, respectful feedback

We are especially drawn to people who are naturally organized, comfortable with a high volume of information, and steady under pressure rather than rattled by it. Discretion matters here, as does a genuine interest in helping people through a hard time in their lives. This role works closely with paralegals and attorneys, so we're looking for someone who communicates well, asks good questions, and is glad to be part of a team rather than working in isolation.

Compensation

$18-19 per hour, depending on experience.

We Also Provide

  • Health, dental, and life insurance

  • 401(k) with employer contributions

  • Paid time off

  • Merit-based raises and bonuses

How to Apply

If this sounds like the kind of work you want to do, we encourage you to apply. Please submit:

  • Resume and cover letter: An up-to-date resume along with a thoughtful cover letter explaining your interest in the role.

  • References: A list of professional references we may contact.

We review each application carefully and will contact selected candidates to schedule interviews.

  • Client experience: Greet clients and visitors, help them feel comfortable and informed from the moment they arrive or call.

  • Document flow: Draft correspondence, pleadings, and reports for paralegal or attorney review.

  • Case preparation: Help prepare financial disclosures and discovery responses, and assist paralegals in organizing exhibits and materials for hearings and trials.

  • Court filings: File documents with courts and tribunals, including through electronic filing systems.

  • Client and case communication: Gather information from clients, provide scheduling updates, and review disclosures and case materials with clients under paralegal direction.

  • Organization and deadlines: Maintain calendars and deadlines, keep files accurate and organized, and use firm systems consistently.

  • Administrative support: Process incoming and outgoing mail and handle day-to-day office tasks that keep the practice running smoothly.

  • Team collaboration: Work closely with paralegals and attorneys across the life of a case, supporting the team the way you'd want to be supported.

  • Able to work in person at our Colorado Springs office.

  • Experience as a legal assistant or in a similar support role; family law experience is a plus.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with close attention to detail.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel); familiarity with Adobe Acrobat is a plus.

  • A college degree in a relevant field is preferred but not required.

  • Comfortable working under paralegal supervision, with a clear understanding of the line between supporting a case and giving legal advice.

  • A positive, team-oriented attitude and a steady presence, even when the pace picks up.
