The Junior Family Law Paralegal performs substantive, billable legal work under the direction and supervision of a Senior Family Law Paralegal and/or Managing Attorney.
This position supports the development and progression of family law matters from intake through discovery, settlement, hearings, and trial. The Junior Paralegal will conduct legal research, assist with drafting pleadings and motions, coordinate discovery, organize evidence, prepare hearing and trial materials, and maintain accurate case files.
The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where deadlines matter.
You should enjoy figuring things out. You should be able to take a case strategy provided by an attorney or Senior Paralegal, identify the tasks necessary to move the case forward, conduct appropriate research, complete assigned work accurately, and escalate questions when attorney guidance is required.
This is a hands-on position with significant opportunities to develop substantive family law knowledge and litigation skills.
- Manage, organize, and analyze discovery and records
- Read financial statements and prepare financial disclosures
- Determine and meet all deadlines by monitoring progress for all deliverables
- Maintain case files and additional relevant information in a nicely organized and easily accessible manner
- Speak with clients to provide quality service, answer basic procedural inquiries about their case, and obtain information about their legal difficulties
Previous experience as a paralegal working with clients and attorneys in a professional law firm with family law or litigation experience preferred.
Completion of a paralegal studies program, college or university course of study, or equivalent relevant legal experience.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to learn and apply legal procedures and Firm processes.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive client information appropriately.
Preferred
Paralegal certificate or degree.
Compensation
$60,000 yearly
