Attorney Sharon Jackson LLC is hiring junior associate attorneys to join the team and litigate cases. The ideal candidate will have some courtroom experience, strong writing skills, and a strong work ethic. Manage family law cases, including divorce, child custody, adoption, child support, custody modifications, contempt, legitimation, and paternity actions, from inception to close. You will not do sales consultations and will be assigned clients to help.
Apply knowledge of family law cases and statutes to the specific facts of each case.
Anticipate possible positive and negative outcomes based on legal precedents and past rulings within the state, county, and specific judicial division.
Manage the discovery process to obtain case evidence and determine what evidence the opposing party has against your client, including but not limited to subpoenas, notice to produce, request for production of documents, request to admit, and depositions
Draft legal documents such as motions, pleadings, orders, briefs, and discovery documents.
Collaborate with clients to gather evidence, determine strategy, and choose the best course of action based on the level of case conflict, client tolerance for stress, budget, and favorable and non-favorable facts.
Advise clients on pros and cons of different possible courses of action.
Communicate with the client regarding major decisions, obstacles, and case developments.
Manage and lead paralegals. Delegate tasks and ensure timely and high-quality delivery from legal assistants, administrative staff, and paralegals.
- Attend court hearings or other legal proceedings, perform legal research, and work with senior associate attorneys to provide legal advice
- Must have a valid Georgia Bar license with no prior disciplinary action - If you are awaiting results for October of 2026 this is fine so long as you will be able to practice in Georgia upon successful completition.
- No prior legal experience required for newly barred attorneys. We will train you if you love court, litigation, and family law.
- For lawyers who have recently taken or passed the bar, we are seeking a passion for family law as demonstrated by taking family law courses or involvement in family law legal jobs, strong writing skills, and strong desire to be a litigation attorney frequently attending court.
- For lawyers with 2-4 years of experience in other fields of law (non-family law), we are seeking good references, demonstrated job stability, and strong critical thinking, speaking, and legal argument skills.
- Sincere interest in helping clients through stressful and messy personal and legal challenges. Able to appreciate the client's perspective and have a genuine desire to help them with their legal matters, without judgment.
- Old fashion values and work ethics- arrive and start on time daily, never late to court, loyal to the firm, ethical, even when nobody else is watching and trustworthy.
- Go Getter who is self-motivated without a 9-5 mindsets. We value work-life balance, but do not want employees with a clock-out-at-5:00 p.m. mindset. Arrive on time, work efficiently, and ensure deadlines are met and cases are managed in a proactive way to reduce stress on staff and clients.
- Team player who works with our high-functioning team. We have a superior team and do not want any mess spreaders to disrupt this. We have direct communication and do not participate in backstabbing. We are professionals but not stuck in the mud. We are accountable and own it when we make a mistake, learn from it, and move on. - Prior courtroom and/or mock trial experience is highly desired.
- Thick skin required. This is family law. You must be resilient and not easily offended. You will face spirited judges, aggressive and attacking opposing attorneys, and demanding clients who expect a lot, as they should, because they are paying a lot for your services and this is their life and not just a case.
Love and passion for learning. - Winning attitude and commitment to excellence. Strong desire to win in court and competitive nature.
- Confident with strong professional presence. Desire to present and litigate cases. Must be comfortable presenting before a judge, jury, and witnesses.
- Solid communication skills and problem-solving skills required in order to work with clients, staff members and senior attorneys
- Ability to work with senior attorneys to best serve client needs and grow our client base
- Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree required from an accredited law school
Compensation
$60,000 - $100,000 yearly
