The hotel chief engineer directs a property's maintenance operations, ensuring that all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life-safety systems operate efficiently and safely. They manage engineering budgets, supervise technical staff, and lead preventive maintenance and sustainability programs to maximize asset longevity and guest satisfaction.

This is a bonus-eligible position.

• Facilities Management: Maintain the physical structure, grounds, and physical plant of the hotel. Oversee HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, and water treatment systems.
• Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and schedule maintenance staff and technicians. Oversee hiring, performance evaluations, and daily task delegation.
• Preventive Maintenance: Develop and manage proactive maintenance programs to minimize equipment downtime and extend the life of hotel assets.
• Budget & Cost Control: Manage departmental expenses, negotiate with vendors, oversee capital improvement projects, and identify energy-saving or cost-reduction initiatives.
• Compliance & Safety: Ensure the hotel complies with all local building codes, fire and life-safety regulations, and environmental health standards.
• Guest Service & Collaboration: Work closely with the General Manager, Housekeeping, and Front Office to promptly resolve guest room maintenance issues and maintain high satisfaction scores.

• Education: Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, facilities management, or related field; and/or equivalent trade experience.
• Experience: 5–10+ years in building engineering, maintenance, or hospitality operations; supervisory experience required.
• Technical Skills: Expertise in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems; knowledge of building automation and energy management. Strong project management skills are required.
• Certifications preferred: EPA 608 Universal, Building Operator Certification (BOC), OSHA 30, CPO, or state boiler/electrical licenses. 
• Soft Skills: Strong leadership, problem-solving, communication, and ability to work in a fast-paced, guest-facing environment.
