Equipment Operator — Dirt Work & Landscaping


Full-time | Pay: $25–$35 per hour, based on demonstrated equipment operation, grading, and drainage skills. Starting pay determined through an interview, reference checks, and a supervised equipment skills evaluation. Performance and compensation review after 90 days.

Seeking an experienced equipment operator for dirt work, site preparation, and landscaping on our residential and multifamily projects.

We need someone who can operate skid steers, compact track loaders, mini excavators, and other equipment safely and efficiently. You should take pride in getting the grades right, protecting the property, and leaving a finished job you would be proud to show.

Qualified applicants will receive three short screening questions. Finalists will complete an interview, reference checks, and a supervised equipment skills evaluation.

What you’ll do

  • Perform excavation, rough and finish grading, backfilling, and material placement.

  • Prepare building sites, driveways, walkways, and landscape areas.

  • Establish drainage and slopes according to project instructions.

  • Install and spread gravel, soil, and mulch; assist with sod and other landscaping.

  • Work carefully around buildings, utilities, sidewalks, and neighboring properties.

  • Inspect equipment daily, grease and maintain it, and report problems promptly.

  • Coordinate with the superintendent, plan your work, and communicate progress.

  • Help with handwork, cleanup, and other field tasks needed to complete the job.

Must-haves

  • Demonstrated experience operating both skid steers/compact track loaders and mini excavators.

  • Ability to complete grading and drainage work with limited supervision.

  • Safe operating habits and respect for equipment, utilities, and property.

  • Dependable attendance, reliable transportation, and clear communication.

  • Willingness to work outdoors and perform both equipment operation and hands-on fieldwork.

  • Experience using a laser level, operating additional equipment, or safely transporting equipment is a plus. Tell us about any applicable licenses or certifications.

Compensation

$25 - $35 hourly
