Omni Underground is growing and looking for an experienced Fiber Optic Installer / Fiber Technician to join our underground utility construction team.

This position will support fiber optic projects throughout California and work alongside our directional drilling, excavation, and underground utility crews. We are looking for someone with hands-on experience installing fiber through underground conduit systems, handholes, vaults, and other outside plant infrastructure.

The ideal candidate understands underground fiber construction, takes pride in clean and organized installations, works well with field crews, and can help Omni continue expanding our turnkey capabilities.

  • Install and pull fiber optic cable through underground conduit, handholes, vaults, and utility infrastructure.

  • Set up and safely operate fiber pulling and blowing equipment, cable reels, winches, and related tools.

  • Read construction plans, fiber routes, prints, and project specifications to complete installations accurately.

  • Properly handle, route, coil, label, and protect fiber optic cable while maintaining required bend radius and installation standards.

  • Coordinate with Foremen, HDD crews, Locators, and Project Management to keep projects moving efficiently.

  • Inspect conduit pathways and identify obstructions, damaged conduit, or other field conditions that could affect fiber installation.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized jobsite while documenting completed work and reporting field issues.

  • Previous fiber optic installation or outside plant (OSP) construction experience preferred.

  • Experience pulling or blowing fiber through underground conduit systems strongly preferred.

  • Knowledge of handholes, vaults, conduit systems, cable reels, pulling equipment, and underground utility construction.

  • Ability to read construction plans, utility prints, fiber routes, and project specifications.

  • Class A CDL preferred, but not required.

  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively as part of a construction crew.

  • Dependable, safety-minded, and willing to work outdoors, travel to project locations, and work overtime when projects require it.

Compensation

$23 - $35 hourly
