In this program, you’ll begin as a financial professional, where you’ll learn how to offer our products, build lasting client relationships, and meet specific requirements¹. From there, you’ll transition into a management role and participate in a six-month intensive training program designed to prepare you for leadership. You’ll use that experience to recruit, coach, and develop others toward success.

Phase 1: Firsthand experience as a financial professional
During your first year with New York Life, you’ll gain firsthand experience in the role and daily responsibilities of a financial professional. We’ll support you with in-depth training, access to digital tools, and a broad suite of financial products to help you succeed.
Training and Resources
You will receive high-quality training that will help you understand and appreciate the strength and value of New York Life. In addition to this training and ongoing support, New York Life provides access to the essential resources you need to succeed every day. This includes direct access to knowledgeable experts and a full suite of digital tools for sales, prospecting, and marketing—designed to help you attract and retain clients through web, social media, and email content.
Product Solutions
You’ll gain in-depth knowledge of our diverse products and services designed to help clients achieve their financial goals. Together with its subsidiaries, New York Life offers a broad range of competitive insurance and financial solutions, including life insurance, annuities, long-term care insurance, disability income insurance, and investment products such as mutual funds through our broker-dealer, NYLIFE Securities LLC (member FINRA/SIPC), a Licensed Insurance Agency. Before offering investment products, you’ll be required to obtain the necessary securities licenses, FINRA registrations, and affiliate with NYLIFE Securities as a registered representative.
Phase 2: Your transition to Associate Partner
After meeting specific performance criteria during your first 12 months as a financial professional, you’ll begin a dedicated six-month Associate Partner training program. In this phase, we’ll support you in building and leading your own team of financial professionals. Throughout your career at New York Life, you’ll have ongoing opportunities for advancement and promotion into higher levels of leadership.

If you meet the qualifications and receive approval to become an Associate Partner, you will receive a salary. The salary range for Associate Partners is $60,000–$150,000 (with minimums of $66,560 in California and $67,725 in Washington), in addition to eligibility for bonuses and performance-based incentives.
This includes additional compensation tied to the performance and development of the agents you recruit, referred to as R&Ds (Recruitment & Development compensation). R&Ds are intended to enhance your income and reimburse reasonable and necessary business expenses not otherwise covered.
As an Associate Partner, you’ll also be eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, long-term disability, accidental death and dismemberment coverage, a pension plan, and a 401(k) savings plan.

Over time, your income potential can grow significantly, as field manager compensation is directly tied to both recruiting results and the performance of your team. In 2023, the average income among our 568 recruiters across all levels was $280,000.
