Family Law Attorney – Minneapolis, MN (Fully Remote) | $10,000 Hiring Bonus Available
You’ve built a foundation in family law. Now you’re looking for the right place to build on it.
Atticus Family Law is looking for a Minnesota family law attorney with at least two years of experience who is ready for more responsibility, stronger skills, and the opportunity to keep growing without having to figure everything out alone.
For more than 20 years, we’ve helped Minnesota families navigate divorce, custody, parenting time, financial issues, and the other difficult decisions that come with family law. Our attorneys work remotely, but they don’t work in isolation. They’re supported by experienced paralegals and legal assistants, established systems, and colleagues who are available to talk through strategy, answer questions, and share what they know.
You’ll manage your own cases, develop strategy, advise clients, negotiate resolutions, and advocate in court. Along the way, you’ll have opportunities to take on more challenging work, strengthen your judgment, and learn from attorneys and legal professionals with years of experience.
We care about excellent legal work, but we also care about how that work gets done. We want people who communicate, follow through, ask questions, share ideas, and make the team around them better.
What You Bring
2+ years of Minnesota family law experience
An active Minnesota Bar license in good standing
The ability to manage your own caseload while knowing when another perspective would be valuable
Strong client advocacy balanced with practical judgment and empathy
Clear, thoughtful communication with clients, colleagues, courts, and opposing counsel
A collaborative mindset and a desire to keep getting better at what you do
What You’ll Find at Atticus
A $10,000 hiring bonus for qualified candidates
The flexibility of a fully remote practice
Experienced paralegal and legal assistant support
Established systems that help keep cases and deadlines on track
Mentorship that happens through real cases and real conversations
Opportunities to take on increasingly sophisticated work as you grow
A team that values accountability, communication, and helping each other succeed
- Take ownership of your cases. Manage Minnesota family law matters from strategy through resolution, staying ahead of deadlines, next steps, and client needs.
- Build the case. Develop legal strategy, analyze the facts, conduct research, and prepare motions, affidavits, arguments, and other materials that move the client’s position forward.
- Advocate with confidence. Represent clients in hearings, mediations, negotiations, and other proceedings, building your litigation skills through meaningful, hands-on experience.
- Help clients make good decisions. Translate complicated legal issues into practical advice, set realistic expectations, and give clients the information they need to decide what comes next.
- Keep clients in the loop. Communicate proactively so clients understand where their case stands, what’s happening next, and what you need from them.
- Use the team around you. Work closely with paralegals and legal assistants, delegate thoughtfully, and collaborate with colleagues when another perspective can strengthen the approach.
- Keep learning. Stay current on Minnesota family law and continue developing your legal judgment, advocacy skills, and ability to handle increasingly complex matters.
- Keep things moving. Use the firm’s systems to stay organized, follow through on commitments, and make sure cases don’t stall because the next step was missed.
- A solid foundation in Minnesota family law. You’re licensed and in good standing with the Minnesota Bar and have at least two years of family law experience, including familiarity with Minnesota practice and procedure.
- Ownership and follow-through. You pay attention to the details, stay ahead of deadlines, and take responsibility for making sure the next step happens.
- Communication people can understand. You can explain complicated issues clearly, write effectively, and adjust your approach depending on whether you’re communicating with a client, colleague, court, or opposing counsel.
- The ability to manage competing priorities. You can keep multiple cases moving without losing track of the details or letting the urgent crowd out the important.
- Comfort with technology. You’re comfortable working in a technology-driven practice and willing to learn the tools and systems that help our team work efficiently.
- A collaborative mindset. You welcome feedback, ask questions, share ideas, and believe good legal work gets even better when people work together.
- Care for the client experience. You understand that clients remember not only the outcome of their case, but whether they felt informed, prepared, and heard along the way.
- A desire to keep growing. You’re confident in the experience you already have while recognizing there’s always more to learn.
