Deno Millikan Law Firm has been serving Snohomish County since 1969. More than fifty years of practicing law in the same community is built on something meaningful. It is built on trust earned through generations of clients who have relied on us during important moments involving their families, businesses, and futures.

Our family law attorneys assist clients with divorce, parenting plans, custody matters, property division, protection orders, adoptions, and collaborative resolution. We are also experienced trial attorneys who are comfortable and capable in the courtroom.

And we are looking for an attorney who wants to become part of it.

The Opportunity:

This is an opportunity for a family law attorney who wants meaningful responsibility and the ability to build a career.

From the beginning, you will manage your own caseload, represent clients in court, participate in mediations, and become a trusted advisor to people navigating some of the most difficult circumstances of their lives.

But this role offers more than a caseload.

We want to invest in an attorney who wants to build something for the long term. Someone interested in developing strong client relationships, expanding their professional network, cultivating referral relationships, and becoming an active and recognized part of the Snohomish County legal community.

We are not looking for someone to simply take assigned files and move from case to case.

We are looking for an attorney who wants to grow a practice and, over time, become one of the attorneys people think of when they need a trusted advocate during a family crisis.

A Straightforward Word About Family Law:

We believe it is important to be honest about the work.

Family law is demanding in ways that are difficult to understand until you practice it.

Clients are often scared, frustrated, and overwhelmed. Children may be involved. Relationships and finances are changing. The outcome of a case can affect the direction of an entire family.

Some days, the law provides a clear answer. Other days, it does not.

Your job is not simply to know the law. You must also be able to sit across from someone during an incredibly difficult moment and give them an honest assessment. To counsel them when they need guidance. Encourage them when appropriate. Give them a realistic perspective when necessary. And help them make informed decisions about what comes next.

The work can be challenging.

It can also be incredibly meaningful.

Many attorneys are interested in family law. Fewer are genuinely suited for the realities of the practice.

We would rather take the time to find someone who truly wants to do this work than hire quickly simply to fill an opening.

If you have at least three years of litigation experience and feel genuinely drawn toward family law, we want to hear from you, even if family law is not currently listed on your resume.

What You Will Do:

• Manage family law cases from initial consultation through resolution, including trial preparation and courtroom appearances
• Advise and guide clients through divorce, custody disputes, parenting plans, property division, protection orders, and related family law matters
• Prepare pleadings, motions, discovery, parenting plans, settlement agreements, and other legal documents
• Represent clients during hearings, mediations, negotiations, collaborative processes, and trials
• Develop trusted relationships with clients while providing clear, practical, and honest legal guidance
• Collaborate with experienced attorneys and take advantage of opportunities for mentorship and professional development
• Contribute to the continued growth of the practice through exceptional client service, professional relationships, community involvement, and business development

Compensation: $80,000 to $120,000 annually, depending on experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package.

We are prepared to offer competitive compensation for the right attorney.

What You Bring:

• Active Washington State Bar license and in good standing, or eligibility and willingness to become licensed in Washington

• At least three years of litigation experience

• Family law experience is preferred but not required

• A genuine interest in developing and growing a long-term family law practice

• Strong written communication, oral advocacy, and courtroom skills

• Confidence representing and advising clients in challenging and emotionally sensitive situations

• Strong organizational and case management skills with the ability to handle a full caseload while maintaining attention to detail

• Sound judgment, professionalism, and strong ethical standards

• A willingness to learn, accept feedback, and continue developing as an attorney
