Description

Family Law Associate- $140,000 -$250,000 - Hybrid

Are you a dedicated advocate looking for a firm that values your expertise as much as your life outside the office? We are looking for a Senior Associate to join our close-knit team, where our mission is rooted in compassionate advocacy, superior service, and a deep-seated commitment to building community and promoting innovation. At our firm, we understand that while we are a "work family," you have a family of your own that deserves your time and presence; that’s why we’ve built a culture that truly prioritizes balance, offering hybrid work, flexibility, and a genuine expectation that you’ll be home in time for dinner. If you are ready to bring your talents to a firm that champions both professional excellence and personal well-being, we would love to welcome you home.

At our firm, we believe the first 90 days shouldn't be a "trial by fire," but a purposeful integration into our culture and practice. We’ve designed a roadmap that prioritizes relationship-building and clarity, ensuring you have the tools to lead without sacrificing the dinner-table moments that matter.

If this is you, send us a cover letter explaining your approach to family law cases and your resume.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Associate at our firm, you will serve as a lead advocate for families navigating their most pivotal moments. Your role blends high-level legal strategy with hands-on client care, ensuring every case is handled with the precision of a seasoned litigator and the heart of a community-focused advisor.

Strategic Case Management & Leadership

  • End-to-End Ownership: Manage a comprehensive caseload of Maryland family law matters, from the initial consultation through to final resolution.
  • Decision-Making: Analyze complex situations to develop sound legal strategies, prioritizing tasks and meeting all deadlines in a high-volume environment.
  • Team Collaboration: Oversee and collaborate with paralegals and support staff, ensuring efficient case movement and seamless communication with senior partners.

Litigation & Advocacy

  • Courtroom Presence: Confidently represent clients in all Maryland court appearances, hearings, and trials.
  • Negotiation & Mediation: Lead mediation sessions and negotiate with opposing counsel to reach amicable settlements, while remaining prepared for zealous litigation when necessary.
  • Asset Division: Handle complex financial aspects of divorce, including the division of marital assets.

Drafting & Research

  • High-Level Documentation: Draft and review a wide range of pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, parenting plans, and prenuptial agreements.
  • Legal Analysis: Conduct thorough research to stay ahead of current Maryland statutes, regulations, and evolving case precedents.

Client Stewardship & Service

  • Empathetic Communication: Maintain consistent contact with clients, providing clear explanations of the legal process and managing expectations during emotionally charged times.
  • Firm Growth: Uphold our high standards of "Superior Service" and contribute to business development initiatives to help our firm continue to thrive.

Qualifications

  • Maryland Bar Membership: Active and in good standing.
  • Proven Courtroom Track Record: You must have familiarity with handling family law cases and be comfortable going to trial.
  • Regional Expertise: Deep familiarity with family court procedures across Anne Arundel, Baltimore County, and Prince George's County.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: 4+ years of firm experience specifically focused on Maryland family law issues.

Strategic & Analytical Skills

  • Case Strategy: Ability to research complex evidence—from financial records and home studies to expert reports—to develop strategies that favor quick, cost-effective resolutions over unnecessary litigation.
  • Litigation Mastery: First-chair trial experience with a strong knowledge base representing both plaintiffs and defendants.
  • Tech Savvy: Proficiency with legal research platforms and case management software, paired with a professional home office setup and high-speed internet to thrive in our hybrid model.

Leadership & Soft Skills

  • Compassionate Advocacy: A proven ability to guide and educate clients through high-conflict, emotionally charged situations with empathy and clarity.
  • Exceptional Communication: You are a skilled negotiator who can remain calm and persuasive when stress and emotions are high.
  • Effective Delegation: The ability to lead a team by appropriately delegating tasks to paralegals and legal assistants to ensure cases move forward efficiently.

Compensation

$140,000 - $140,000/year
