Experienced Immigration Litigation Attorney — Seattle/Tacoma | $130,000–$170,000

Ehsan Law, PLLC is seeking an experienced immigration attorney to join our Seattle-area team and take substantial ownership of our removal-defense and immigration-litigation practice.

This is not an entry-level immigration attorney position. We are looking for an attorney who has meaningful hands-on experience representing clients in Immigration Court and can independently manage removal matters, including Individual Hearings.

The ideal candidate is an experienced immigration litigator who combines sound judgment, strong legal writing, courtroom confidence, and genuine commitment to clients. Experience with immigration detention, federal habeas or mandamus litigation, BIA appeals, or Ninth Circuit matters is especially valuable.

The attorney will work with an established team of legal assistants and support staff and will have significant responsibility for case strategy and advocacy. This position requires regular in-person appearances in the Seattle/Tacoma area and is not a fully remote position.

• Independently manage removal-defense matters from initial strategy through final hearing, including Master Calendar Hearings, Individual Hearings, and related motions practice.

• Represent detained and non-detained clients in bond proceedings, asylum, withholding of removal, CAT, and other forms of relief before EOIR.

• Develop case strategy, prepare witnesses, review evidence, and draft motions, briefs, declarations, and other substantive filings.

• Handle or assist with federal immigration litigation, including habeas corpus and mandamus matters in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington.

• Prepare BIA appeals, motions to reopen or reconsider, motions to remand, and other complex immigration filings; appellate experience before the Ninth Circuit is highly valued.

• Represent clients before USCIS when needed, including asylum, adjustment, naturalization, and other interviews, and advise prospective and existing clients on immigration options.

• Work closely with legal assistants and other attorneys, supervise delegated case preparation, maintain deadlines, and provide clear and timely communication to clients.

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing in a U.S. state bar.

• At least three years of substantial U.S. immigration-law experience, with significant removal-defense experience.

• Actual courtroom experience before EOIR, including independently handling Individual Hearings or merits hearings.

• Experience developing removal-defense case strategy, preparing witnesses and evidence, and drafting substantive motions and legal briefs.

• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, oral-advocacy, and professional-judgment skills.

• Ability to independently manage complex matters, competing deadlines, and a substantial caseload while effectively using support staff.

• Ability and willingness to regularly appear in person in Seattle, Tacoma, and other Washington locations as required.

Strongly Preferred

• Active Washington State Bar membership.

• Admission to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington.

• Experience with detained immigration matters and bond hearings.

• Experience litigating immigration-related habeas corpus or mandamus actions in federal court.

• Experience preparing BIA appeals and complex motions.

• Experience with Ninth Circuit petitions for review, stays of removal, or appellate briefing.

Candidates do not need to have handled every type of matter listed above. We are most interested in attorneys with strong removal-defense litigation experience, sound judgment, excellent writing ability, and the ability to take meaningful ownership of cases from the beginning.
