Employment Attorney
Spitz, The Employee's Law Firm • Louisville, KY, US
Posted 4 hours ago
At Spitz, the Employee’s Law Firm, we don’t hire attorneys to sit on the sidelines. We hire them to become litigators.
We are expanding our Kentucky practice and looking for an attorney who wants meaningful work, real responsibility, and the opportunity to build an exceptional litigation career. This is a remote position that may be performed from anywhere in Kentucky.
Our attorneys represent employees facing discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, FMLA violations, unpaid wages and overtime, and other serious workplace violations. These cases matter. Clients often come to us at one of the most difficult moments in their careers, and they need an attorney who will listen, think strategically, communicate clearly, and fight for them.
Spitz is one of the nation’s largest employee-side employment law firms. We have built our practice around aggressive advocacy, outstanding client service, and a simple philosophy: talented attorneys become better lawyers by actually practicing law.
Real Responsibility. Real Growth.
The fastest way to become a great litigator is to litigate.
At Spitz, meaningful responsibility is not reserved for attorneys who have reached a particular class year or title. Responsibility follows performance. Demonstrate that you are ready for more, and you will have the opportunity to do more.
You will counsel clients. Make strategic decisions. Negotiate with opposing counsel. Take depositions. Draft and argue substantive motions. Prepare cases for trial.
And you will not be expected to figure it all out alone.
You’ll work with experienced litigators who provide mentorship, feedback, strategy, and support while giving you the room to develop your own judgment and advocacy skills.
The goal is not simply to teach you employment law.
The goal is to help you become an exceptional litigator.
What You’ll Do
Represent employees throughout Kentucky in employment claims and litigation.
Work directly with clients from the beginning of the attorney-client relationship.
Evaluate claims, identify legal and factual issues, and provide clear, practical advice.
Develop litigation strategy and take ownership of moving your cases forward.
Draft EEOC and state agency charges, demand letters, pleadings, discovery, motions, briefs, and other litigation documents.
Take and defend depositions and prepare clients and witnesses for testimony.
Negotiate directly with opposing counsel and participate in mediations and settlement conferences.
Advocate for clients before the EEOC, state agencies, and courts.
Conduct discovery, analyze evidence, research and brief legal issues, and prepare cases for trial.
Work alongside experienced trial attorneys while taking on greater responsibility as your skills develop.
What We’re Looking For
Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
Licensed to practice law in Kentucky, awaiting Kentucky bar results, or eligible for prompt admission.
Strong written and verbal advocacy skills.
Excellent judgment, organization, and attention to detail.
Ability to listen carefully, communicate with empathy, and earn clients’ trust.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to evaluate facts, risks, and strategy.
Driven, accountable, and comfortable taking ownership of your work.
Able to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced remote litigation practice.
Genuine interest in litigation, employment law, civil rights, or employee advocacy.
Coachable, intellectually curious, and eager to improve.
Motivated by responsibility and the opportunity to become an outstanding lawyer.
Employment law experience is a plus, but it is not required. We care far more about judgment, intelligence, work ethic, communication skills, and your desire to become an exceptional advocate.
Build the Career You Went to Law School For
There are plenty of legal jobs where junior attorneys spend years watching other lawyers do the interesting work.
This is different.
At Spitz, you can represent real people, handle meaningful cases, develop your own judgment, and build the skills that separate lawyers who work on cases from lawyers who can handle cases.
You can do it while working remotely from anywhere in Kentucky, with the resources, mentorship, and support of an established national employee-rights firm behind you.
If you are ambitious about becoming a great lawyer and want your work to matter, we want to hear from you.
Compensation
$65,000 - $95,000 yearly + Bonus
