The Early Childhood Trainer will advance CCCN’s mission and support our efforts to strengthen the childcare workforce through programmatic enhancements across Nassau County. The Early Childhood Trainer will specialize in coordinating and implementing high-caliber early childhood professional development opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support, coaching, guidance, and consultation to licensed and registered childcare programs, school districts, and community-based organizations throughout Long Island, including technical assistance, training, observations, and assessments on child development, program operations, health and safety, family engagement, and OCFS regulations.
  • Implement grant-funded educational programs and assist in delivering contracted initiatives, quality strategies, and similar projects that expand partnerships with government, education, and community organizations.
  • Develop and implement training and professional development sessions on topics such as child development, learning environments, classroom management and curriculum, health and safety, and OCFS regulations.
  • Document and report information related to our grants and various contracts, regarding the essential work we do to support the Early Childhood workforce.
  • Work collaboratively with all CCCN departments as needed.
  • Build relationships with Early Childhood Educators and programs, using a strength-based, reflective approach to professional development.
  • Maintain professional resources that include books, videos, pamphlets, brochures, etc., that promote best practices for infant-toddler care.
  • Participate in applicable in-service and professional development activities.
  • Assist in the creation and dissemination of professional development opportunities through brochures/publications.
  • Participate in the Long Island Regional Technical Assistance Center for Pre-K and Early Childhood Education committees, task forces, and community meetings, as requested, to support and promote program goals.
  • Perform additional tasks as required by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in early childhood education required.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience in a school district or community-based organization (CBO) setting preferred, along with prior district experience, such as teaching or working in a CBO.
  • Bilingual/Spanish preferred.
  • Knowledge and willingness to learn about early education, regulations, and child development.
  • Excellent communication skills with diverse communities.
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Drive.
  • Comfortable with public speaking and conducting training sessions.
  • Willingness and reliable means to travel locally and regionally throughout Long Island, including overnight trips as required for conferences.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends, as necessary.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills and a strengths-based support approach.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and manage extended use of technology and phones.

Compensation

$34.34 - $62,500/hour
