We're looking for an Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant to be part of our Early Childhood Services Department. In this role, you'll collaborate directly with educators of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, helping to enhance their capacity in social-emotional support and reflective practices. Responsibilities
- Provide on-site consultation and support to early childhood program staff who work with infants, toddlers, and preschool age
- Support educators in creating socially and emotionally responsive classroom environments and implementing developmentally appropriate practices.
- Assist educators in communicating effectively with families regarding children’s social-emotional development and behavioral concerns
- Promote staff wellness and reflective self-care practices
- Participate in ongoing professional development related to infant, toddler, and preschool age mental health, evidence-based practices, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), cultural responsiveness, and early childhood mental health assessment and intervention strategies
- Maintain timely, accurate, and confidential documentation and data records
- Participate in external committees, task forces, and community meetings, as requested, to support and promote program goals
- Attend state-wide and regional meetings, trainings, and related events
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, or a related behavioral health or counseling field required
- Licensed or licensed-eligible clinicians preferred
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with young children (birth to age five) and/or families with young children
- Experience coaching, training, mentoring, or teaching adult learners
- Working knowledge of typical and atypical early childhood development, as well as infant and early childhood mental health principles and practices
- Must obtain endorsement from the New York State Association of Infant Mental Health (NYSAIMH) within one (1) year of employment.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English preferred
- Willingness and ability to travel regionally across Long Island as needed
- Experience working within early childhood settings preferred
Compensation
$31.97 - $34.72/hour
