Build the relationships that keep Fresh Start growing year-round.
Fresh Start - The Moving Crew is a Central Massachusetts moving and relocation company built around one promise: Protecting What Comes Next. We serve residential and senior clients as well as businesses, institutions, property professionals, and organizations that need dependable planning, careful execution, and responsive service.
We are hiring a Director of Business Development to create a dependable flow of qualified opportunities, deepen referral and commercial relationships, and move each real opportunity toward a clear next step. Inside Fresh Start, we think of this leader as our Opportunities Director because the job is larger than simply selling a move: it is about finding the right work, building trust, and coordinating a clean handoff so the company can deliver what was promised.
This is a hands-on, individual-contributor leadership role. It is not a passive marketing position, a call-center role, or a daily operations job. You will spend time building relationships in the market, following up consistently, maintaining an accurate pipeline, and working closely with estimating and operations before commitments are made.
Compensation: $50,000 annual base salary, plus performance-based bonus compensation. Expected total annual earnings are approximately $85,000–$120,000+ for a successful Director of Business Development, based on measurable business-growth results.
What You Will Own
Build a qualified pipeline through targeted outreach, meetings, networking, referrals, vendor relationships, community visibility, and reactivation of past customers and contacts.
Develop strategic relationships with commercial clients, facility and property managers, senior-living communities, real estate professionals, healthcare organizations, colleges and universities, government buyers, and other referral partners that fit Fresh Start's services.
Advance every real opportunity toward a defined next step instead of merely collecting contacts or sending unanswered emails.
Own CRM discipline by recording opportunity value, timing, probability, decision-makers, next action, and internal ownership accurately and promptly.
Coordinate with estimating and operations before dates, scope, crew size, equipment, or pricing are promised.
Provide complete handoff information when an opportunity becomes a booked job, and remain engaged when relationship continuity matters.
Create a simple weekly update covering priorities, meetings, pipeline movement, obstacles, bookings, forecast, and support needed from ownership.
Support dependable month-over-month revenue growth while helping improve winter and weekday utilization without overloading operations.
What Success Looks Like
A visible, current, and dependable pipeline of qualified opportunities.
More repeat, referral, commercial, institutional, and year-round work.
Consistent follow-up and credible forecasts rather than last-minute activity.
Clean communication and handoffs between business development, estimating, and operations.
Revenue growth that fits Fresh Start's pricing, capacity, values, and service standards.
The First 90 Days
Learn Fresh Start's services, estimating process, pricing guardrails, capacity limits, client experience, and existing referral base.
Organize the opportunity tracker, segment target accounts, and establish a practical weekly outreach and follow-up rhythm.
Re-engage qualified past customers, estimates, referral contacts, and commercial relationships while opening new target accounts.
Build an active pipeline with clear next steps, early bookings, and a forecast that ownership can use to plan.
What You Bring
At least 3 years of successful B2B business development, consultative sales, account growth, or referral-partnership experience; 5 or more years is preferred.
A measurable track record of creating pipeline, opening accounts, growing revenue, or building productive referral relationships.
Strong in-person, telephone, and written communication, with the judgment to listen before proposing a solution.
Working knowledge of CRM and pipeline management, including forecasting, next-action discipline, and timely notes.
The initiative to work independently and the humility to coordinate before making commitments that affect another department.
Reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and the ability to attend meetings and events throughout Central Massachusetts and surrounding markets.
Accurate follow-through, professional judgment, and the ability to represent Fresh Start well with executives, families, community partners, and field teams.
Experience That Translates Well
Experience in commercial moving or relocation, home services, restoration, facility services, property management, senior services, healthcare outreach, hospitality sales, office furniture, real estate, or another relationship-driven service industry is helpful but not required.
A degree is not required; demonstrated results and good judgment matter more.
Compensation
$85,000 – $120,000+
