Mortgage Sales Representative – Loan Officer Career Track
This is not a traditional call center job. It’s the first step toward becoming a Loan Officer.
We’re looking for someone who wants to learn sales, build real skills, make serious money, and earn their way into a career in mortgage lending.
You don’t need mortgage experience. You don’t need a college degree. You don’t need to know everything about loans.
You do need to be hungry, competitive, coachable, confident on the phone, and willing to put in the work.
What You’ll Do
You’ll be on the phone for the majority of your day working with mortgage leads.
Your job is simple:
Call new leads and existing leads
Re-engage people who previously showed interest
Follow up with prospects who stopped responding
Have real conversations with homeowners
Ask the right questions and identify qualified opportunities
Qualify prospects based on our sales process
Transfer qualified prospects to one of our Loan Officers
Keep your activity and follow-up organized in our CRM
Take coaching, improve your approach, and get better every day
You are not responsible for closing the loan or collecting loan documents.
Your job is to create opportunities for our Loan Officers.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who can communicate confidently with people they’ve never met and isn't afraid to pick up the phone.
Sales experience is preferred, but it doesn't have to be mortgage sales. Experience in areas like:
Inside sales
Retail sales
Automotive sales
Recruiting
Insurance
Real estate
Appointment setting
Customer service with a strong sales component
Cold calling or high-volume phone sales
…can all translate well to this position.
Mortgage experience is a plus, not a requirement.
More important than your resume is your mindset.
You should be:
Competitive – You want to win.
Driven – You don't need someone standing over you every minute.
Coachable – You can take feedback without getting defensive.
Energetic – You bring personality and confidence to conversations.
Resilient – Hearing “no” doesn't ruin your day.
Hardworking – You understand that results come from consistent effort.
Goal-oriented – You want to improve your income and your position.
Patient – You're willing to work now for a much bigger opportunity later.
Who Should NOT Apply
This position is probably not for you if:
You want an easy job.
You hate being on the phone.
You make excuses when things don't go your way.
You blame other people when you don't get results.
You need constant supervision to stay productive.
You aren't comfortable being held accountable.
You expect success before you've put in the work.
You're looking for a job where you can do the minimum and collect a paycheck.
The people who succeed here are the people who are willing to put in the real work required to win.
We don't believe in excuses or shortcuts.
Why This Position Exists
We're building a sales organization where someone can start at the front end, learn the business, get licensed, and eventually become a highly productive Loan Officer.
The career path looks like:
Mortgage Sales Representative → NMLS Licensing & Mortgage Training → Loan Officer → High-Producing Loan Officer
If you perform, learn the business, and prove that you can handle more responsibility, there is a clear opportunity to move up.
What We Give You
You don't have to figure this out on your own.
We'll provide:
Leads
Training
Sales systems
Scripts and call flows
CRM and technology
Mortgage product training
Ongoing coaching
Call reviews
Performance feedback
A competitive team environment
A clear path toward becoming a Loan Officer
We'll give you the leads, training, systems, and coaching. You bring the work ethic and the ability to sell.
Our Culture
We're serious about winning, but we're not trying to create some fake “Wolf of Wall Street” environment.
We're a team that gets along, pushes each other, talks a little trash, celebrates wins, and wants to make a great living.
We use a leaderboard. We recognize people who perform. We publicly celebrate wins. We coach people who need improvement.
And we're big on accountability.
Being on time matters. Showing up matters. Effort matters. Preparation matters. Getting better matters.
Nobody expects you to be perfect.
We do expect you to work, learn, compete, and improve.
The Opportunity
If you're looking for a place to hide, this isn't it.
If you're looking for a place to develop sales skills, learn the mortgage business, compete with a strong team, and earn your way into a bigger opportunity, this could be exactly what you're looking for.
You don't need to know everything about mortgages.
You need confidence.
You need work ethic.
You need the ability to communicate.
And you need the willingness to keep going when the results don't come immediately.
Come in, put in the work, learn the business, and earn your next opportunity.
Make outbound calls to new, existing, and older mortgage leads throughout the day
Re-engage leads who have stopped responding or previously expressed interest
Speak confidently and professionally with homeowners over the phone
Ask effective questions to understand the prospect’s situation and identify opportunities
Qualify prospects using our established sales process and guidelines
Transfer qualified prospects to a Loan Officer for the next step
Maintain accurate lead activity and follow-up in our CRM
Follow up consistently with prospects to maximize opportunities
Meet established activity, quality, and performance expectations
Participate in sales training, coaching, and call reviews
Apply coaching and feedback to continuously improve phone and sales skills
Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to perform every day
Compete on the team leaderboard and take ownership of your individual results
Work toward earning an NMLS license and advancing into a Loan Officer position
Required:
Strong verbal communication skills
Comfortable making a high volume of phone calls every day
Confident speaking with people you don't know
Strong work ethic and willingness to put in consistent effort
Coachable and willing to accept feedback
Self-motivated and able to stay productive without constant supervision
Competitive mindset and desire to improve
Reliable, punctual, and professional
Positive attitude and ability to handle rejection without getting discouraged
Basic computer skills and ability to learn new systems quickly
Preferred, but not required:
Previous sales experience
Cold calling or outbound phone experience
Inside sales or call center experience
Mortgage, real estate, insurance, or financial services experience
Experience working in a goal- or performance-driven environment
Most importantly: You don't need a mortgage background to succeed here. You need the ability to communicate, the willingness to be coached, and the work ethic to do what it takes to win.
