Controller - Home Remodeling

Omni Remodeling • Owings Mills, MD, US

Posted 1 day ago

Omni Remodeling is scaling from $14M to $100M by 2036, and this seat owns the financial discipline that makes that growth possible. Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Controller runs month-end close, cash forecasting, general ledger integrity, and accounting operations, including direct oversight of the AP/AR Specialist and Payroll Specialist.

The right person is:

  • Hands-on. Owns the work directly, from reconciliations to close, not just reviews someone else's.

  • Analytical. Turns financial data into decisions leadership can act on.

  • Process-driven. Builds the systems that let close run the same way every month as the company scales.

  • Accountable. Meets deadlines and closes the loop without being chased.

  • Month-End Close & Financial Statement Accuracy. Own the close calendar and deliver accurate, reconciled financial statements, P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow, closed by the 10th of each month.

  • Cash Forecasting & Liquidity Management. Maintain a weekly cash forecast, monitor bank balances, and coordinate AR/AP timing so leadership always has a current read on liquidity.

  • General Ledger Integrity & Accounting Controls. Own the general ledger, chart of accounts, and journal entry oversight, keeping the books audit-ready at all times.

  • Accounting Operations (AP, AR, Payroll & Job Costing). Directly manage the AP/AR Specialist and Payroll Specialist, and own job-level cost tracking, WIP accuracy, and customer financing reconciliation.

  • Finance Process Leadership. Build and continuously improve billing cadence, reconciliation workflows, and accounting policy as the company scales.

  • Full onsite in Owings Mills, MD

  • Demonstrated experience owning month-end close and financial statement preparation independently, not just reviewing someone else's work

  • Hands-on experience with job costing, WIP, or percentage-of-completion accounting in a project-based industry (construction, remodeling, manufacturing, or similar)

  • Direct experience managing or closely overseeing AP and/or AR functions

  • Proven ability to build and maintain accurate short-term cash forecasts across multiple, sometimes irregular payment sources

  • Comfortable operating hands-on and transactionally; this is an execution seat, not a purely supervisory one

  • Expert proficiency with QuickBooks

  • Strong Excel and financial modeling skills

Preferred

  • Experience in residential construction, remodeling, home improvement, or light manufacturing

  • Experience working alongside an outsourced or fractional accounting/CFO partner

  • Experience with multi-entity or multi-profit-center accounting, allocating shared costs and tracking performance by brand or segment

  • Familiarity with third-party financing program mechanics (retail/home-improvement lender funding, dealer fees, funding timing)

  • Experience directly managing AP/AR/Payroll staff

  • Process documentation and SOP-building instinct

Compensation

$85,000 - $105,000 yearly
