Posted 2 hours ago
Orlando Tax Law is seeking an Intake & Consultation Attorney to join our growing tax controversy and litigation firm.
This position is ideal for an attorney who enjoys client interaction, legal problem-solving, and helping people navigate difficult financial circumstances, but who is looking for an alternative to traditional litigation or caseload-based practice.
You will be the first attorney many prospective clients speak with, helping them understand their tax problems, explaining potential legal solutions, and determining whether Orlando Tax Law is the right fit for their needs.
This position can be in-office, hybrid, or remote, thus offering meaningful scheduling flexibility, performance-based compensation, and the opportunity to continue practicing law without the ongoing responsibilities of managing an active caseload.
What Makes This Role Different
This is not a traditional associate attorney position.
You will not carry an ongoing caseload. You will not be responsible for litigation, court appearances, managing discovery, or meeting billable-hour requirements.
Instead, your focus will be conducting consultations, evaluating prospective matters, explaining representation options, and helping qualified prospective clients confidently move forward with the firm.
You will not be responsible for generating leads or developing your own book of business.
This position offers:
In-office, Hybrid, or fully remote work from an approved U.S. location.
Flexible scheduling with dependable availability for scheduled consultations.
No ongoing caseload or billable-hour requirements.
No litigation deadlines or ongoing case management.
An established pipeline of prospective clients provided by the firm.
Performance-based compensation with opportunities to grow as the firm's consultation volume increases.
Training, support, and collaboration with experienced tax controversy attorneys.
This opportunity may be particularly attractive to an attorney who enjoys the human side of practicing law but wants greater flexibility and freedom from traditional case-management responsibilities.
Conduct telephone and video consultations (and in-person consultations if working on site) with prospective clients concerning federal and state tax matters.
Listen carefully to prospective clients, identify key legal issues, and evaluate potential representation needs.
Provide preliminary legal guidance, explain available options, and establish realistic expectations.
Determine whether prospective matters are appropriate for representation by Orlando Tax Law.
Explain recommended legal services, engagement terms, and anticipated fees clearly and confidently.
Build rapport and trust with prospective clients, helping them make informed decisions about retaining the firm.
Facilitate prospective-client engagement, including appropriate follow-up and coordination of representation agreements.
Collaborate with the intake team to ensure an efficient and positive client experience.
Maintain accurate consultation notes, records, and follow-up information in the firm's practice management system.
Recognize matters requiring additional review by senior attorneys.
Assist in improving consultation procedures, client communications, and intake processes.
Exercise sound professional judgment, including advising prospective clients when representation is unnecessary or inappropriate.
Required Qualifications
Active attorney license in good standing in at least one U.S. state or territory. Florida Bar membership is preferred but not required.
Strong legal judgment and issue-spotting abilities.
Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
High emotional intelligence, professionalism, and genuine compassion for clients.
Ability to establish trust and rapport with prospective clients.
Confidence discussing legal options, professional fees, and representation.
Strong organizational skills, responsiveness, and follow-through.
Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in federal or state tax controversy, IRS representation, tax resolution, or tax litigation.
Familiarity with IRS collection procedures, audits, appeals, liens, levies, and common tax resolution alternatives.
Experience conducting prospective-client consultations or developing client relationships.
Demonstrated ability to help appropriately qualified prospective clients make informed decisions about legal representation.
Prior tax controversy experience is preferred but not required. Attorneys with strong legal foundations, excellent communication skills, and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.
Training in the firm's consultation procedures, practice areas, legal services, and client engagement processes will be provided.
Compensation
$25,000 - $130,000.00 plus
