Construction Apprentice - Foundation Repair
Heartland Foundation Repair • Kansas City, KS, US
Posted 22 days ago
Heartland Foundation Repair fixes failing foundations for homeowners in the Kansas City area, using piering, waterproofing, and foam injection. We're a small, growing crew that tells homeowners the truth, even when it costs us the job, and the number we quote is the number they pay.
We're looking for a Foundation Repair Apprentice to train on the foam rig under our lead operator, Cory, with a path toward running the rig solo and growing into a crew chief or foam operator role.
What The Work Actually Looks Like
Foam is a chemical process that can turn toxic fast if it's not handled correctly. You'll work around fumes and hot material under pressure, in protective gear, staying alert the whole time.
Most of this work is never inspected after it's done. No one checks the injection once it's in the ground. Homeowners are trusting that the person who did the work did it right, whether or not anyone verifies it.
Who Belongs Here
Tells customers the truth, even when it costs the job. Brings problems to the person they have them with, not to everyone else.
Does whatever the work needs, regardless of whose job it technically is.
Catches problems early, like a new noise in the rig, before they get expensive.
Reads the injection by sound, feel, and smell, and test-shoots before material goes into the ground.
Treats company money like their own. Fixes instead of replacing. Doesn't waste material.
Stays teachable. Comes to learn the trade, not to defend old habits.
Back and set up the 50-foot truck and trailer on tight residential sites without damaging the equipment or the property
Run the foam rig under supervision toward running it solo — read the pour by sound, feel, and color, and test-shoot before any material goes in the ground
Complete crack injections and Zytex wall penetrations that keep the week full between foam jobs
Handle demo and finish work, including sheetrock clean enough to pass in a finished home
Keep the warehouse stocked and the trucks loaded so no crew starts a day short
Stay ahead of rig maintenance — oil, tires, fuel, generator, and compressor — and report a problem before it strands a crew
Grow into a foam operator by earning trust on the gun, with zero callbacks
Required:
Proven experience towing and backing a truck and trailer (non-negotiable; not trained on the job)
Pass a DOT physical
Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Reliable transportation
Hands-on work experience: construction, a trade, or equipment
Able to pass a background check
Physically capable of crawl-space work and handling heavy equipment
US work authorization
You do NOT need:
No foundation or foam experience required; we train you
No college degree required
No certifications required up front
Compensation
$20 - $25 hourly
Heartland Foundation Repair fixes the scariest, most expensive problem in a house: a failing foundation, with piering, waterproofing, and foam. We win over the cheaper bid because homeowners trust us to give them a straight diagnosis, a fair price, and a repair that holds. We're a small crew running a real business and building toward a bigger one: crew chiefs running the field, foam operators, and a warehouse that's ready before the morning starts. If you want to learn a trade for real and build a career instead of working a gig, this is where you start.
