Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Clinical Assistant / Medical Scribe with a medical background to provide dedicated support to a physician. This role will attend patient appointments alongside the physician, either in person or by secure video connection, and prepare accurate clinical notes using appointment recordings and the physician’s instructions.

The ideal candidate has strong medical terminology knowledge, excellent writing skills, and the ability to capture the physician’s tone, style, and preferred documentation format while preserving clinical accuracy.

Work Arrangement

This is a full-time hybrid position with a combination of in-office and remote workdays determined by the practice’s schedule and the physician’s needs. Remote work may include joining patient appointments by secure video and completing documentation from authorized recordings.

• Accompany the physician during in-office patient appointments and join appointments by secure video when working remotely, as directed.

• Review authorized appointment recordings and transcribe and organize the information into clear, accurate clinical notes.

• Adapt documentation to reflect the physician’s tone, style, terminology, and preferred structure.

• Prepare draft notes in the electronic health record (EHR) for physician review, correction, and approval.

• Identify missing or unclear information and ask the physician for clarification.

• Complete documentation promptly and maintain an organized workflow for outstanding notes and revisions.

• Provide administrative and appointment-related support to the physician as assigned.

• Protect patient confidentiality and follow practice policies for accessing, recording, storing, and handling patient information.

• Perform duties within the role’s training and authorized scope; clinical decisions and final documentation approval remain with the physician.

Required Qualifications

• A medical background through relevant education, training, or experience, such as medical assisting, nursing, medical scribing, or another healthcare field.

• Working knowledge of medical terminology and clinical documentation.

• Strong writing, grammar, listening, and proofreading skills.

• Ability to accurately summarize clinical discussions and adapt to a physician’s documentation preferences.

• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management.

• Comfort using EHR systems, video conferencing, and digital documentation tools.

• Professional communication skills and discretion when handling sensitive information.

• Ability to work full-time, attend scheduled in-office days, and maintain a private, reliable workspace with internet access on remote days.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as a medical scribe, clinical assistant, medical assistant, or medical transcriptionist.

• Experience supporting a physician directly.

• Experience preparing notes from recorded patient encounters.
