A growing Florida litigation firm in Land O’ Lakes is seeking a civil litigation attorney to join its business, commercial, and real estate disputes practice. Potter Bayern Law, PLLC helps business owners, contractors, and property owners solve complex legal problems and move forward with confidence. Where others see dead ends, we find solutions, and we are looking for a litigator who does the same.

The right candidate takes pride in thorough research and sharp analysis, thrives on the details, and wants to run their own matters instead of being handed pieces of someone else’s. You will have the power to protect people’s businesses, property, and livelihoods, and the room to be the kind of lawyer you want to be.

Business development is optional, not required. You are bonused on any matters you originate, and you are never measured on it. The expectation is high-quality legal work, honest client service, and hours that reflect both. You handle your matters mostly on your own from start to finish, conferring on strategy with a managing attorney who is there to help rather than hover.

Key Responsibilities

• Run your own matters from start to finish, from the first strategy conversation through resolution, conferring with a managing attorney on strategy.

• Conduct legal research and analysis, and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and correspondence.

• Represent clients in Florida courts, including hearings and trials, and handle depositions and case management conferences.

• Communicate with clients in plain English so they understand where their matter stands, without having to chase you for updates.

• Work with the firm’s legal staff on calendaring, deadlines, and file quality so nothing falls through.

• Bill 1,750 hours a year, about 146 hours a month, and do the work efficiently enough that time is not written off. The firm targets a 90 percent realization rate.

Areas of Law

We are looking for depth in at least one of the following, and curiosity about the rest:

• Business and commercial litigation

• Construction law and construction litigation

• Real estate and real estate litigation

• Contested probate

This is not a family law position.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.

• Active membership in The Florida Bar, in good standing.

• Three or more years of civil litigation experience; five or more is strongly preferred.

• Prior law firm billing experience, one year or more, and comfort with a billable hour requirement above 1,700.

• Detail orientation that shows up in the work: clean citations, sound arguments, no typos.

• Client service instincts: timely updates, plain-language explanations, and problems handled before the client has to ask.

• Professionalism, teachability, and the judgment to work without a great deal of supervision.

Compensation and Benefits

• Starting salary of $120,000, based on experience and book of business.
