Embassy Suites & Homewood Suites Newark Wilmington South is seeking an experienced, organized, and guest-focused Catering Sales Manager to oversee all aspects of catering and event execution. This position is heavily focused on managing catering operations, developing detailed Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), coordinating event logistics, and ensuring flawless execution of meetings, conferences, weddings, social events, and group functions.


The ideal candidate possesses exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously while delivering outstanding guest experiences and maximizing catering revenue.


Responsibilities

Catering Sales & Event Planning

  • Manage catering inquiries from initial lead through event completion.
  • Conduct site tours and client consultations to understand event needs and objectives.
  • Develop customized catering proposals and event packages.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients, social groups, wedding planners, and community organizations.
  • Identify opportunities to increase catering revenue through menu enhancements, upgrades, and additional services.
  • Meet or exceed established catering revenue goals and performance metrics.

Banquet Event Order (BEO) Management

  • Create comprehensive and accurate Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) for all catering and banquet functions.
  • Review and update BEOs as client requirements evolve.
  • Conduct detailed BEO meetings with operational departments to ensure complete event understanding.
  • Distribute finalized BEOs accurately and on schedule to all relevant departments.
  • Verify event details and ensure operational readiness prior to function execution.

Event Coordination & Execution

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the planning process.
  • Coordinate closely with Banquets, Culinary, Front Office, Housekeeping, and Engineering departments.
  • Monitor event execution to ensure all client expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Resolve guest concerns and operational challenges quickly and professionally.
  • Conduct post-event follow-up to evaluate guest satisfaction and identify future business opportunities.

Financial & Administrative Responsibilities

  • Prepare contracts, proposals, and event documentation.
  • Ensure proper collection of deposits, payments, and final billing.
  • Maintain accurate event records within hotel sales and catering systems.
  • Track catering revenue, forecasts, and event pace reports.
  • Ensure compliance with hotel policies, brand standards, and contractual obligations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of catering, banquet, event planning, or hospitality sales experience
  • Hotel catering experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience creating and managing detailed Banquet Event Orders (BEOs)
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Ability to prioritize multiple events and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with hotel sales and catering software systems preferred, but not required
  • Knowledge of banquet operations, food and beverage service, and event logistics
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as business demands require
