The Business Travel Sales Manager is responsible for developing, managing, and growing the hotel’s corporate transient and negotiated business travel accounts. This position will focus on identifying new corporate demand, strengthening existing account relationships, increasing negotiated account production, and capturing business from companies throughout Towson, Baltimore County, and the greater Baltimore market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and grow the hotel's business travel and corporate transient segment

  • Prospect for new local and regional corporate accounts through phone calls, email outreach, networking, site visits, referrals, and in-person sales calls

  • Identify companies generating transient room-night demand within the hotel's competitive market

  • Manage and strengthen relationships with existing negotiated corporate accounts

  • Solicit and negotiate Local Negotiated Rates (LNRs) and corporate preferred agreements

  • Respond to corporate RFPs and assist with annual account negotiations

  • Identify opportunities through Marriott global accounts, GDS, consortia, travel management companies, and preferred corporate programs

  • Conduct regular account reviews to evaluate production, rate performance, and opportunities for additional market share

  • Monitor account room-night production and proactively address accounts that are underperforming

  • Research new businesses, office openings, relocations, construction projects, training programs, consultants, and other demand generators entering the market

  • Conduct outside sales calls and property tours for prospective corporate clients

  • Maintain accurate account information, sales activities, traces, and production data within hotel sales systems

  • Partner with Revenue Management and hotel leadership to establish competitive corporate rates and strategies

  • Participate in sales meetings, networking events, client appreciation activities, and hotel sales initiatives

  • Maintain knowledge of competitor hotels, corporate rates, market conditions, and business travel trends

  • Develop relationships with corporate travel managers, executive assistants, office managers, human resources professionals, recruiters, relocation contacts, and travel arrangers

  • Look beyond negotiated rates to identify opportunities for extended stays, project business, crew business, relocations, interviews, training travel, and other recurring transient needs

  • Meet or exceed established room-night and revenue goals for the business travel segment

  • Deliver previous and upcoming week's sales activity reports, as well as monthly sales expense reports, and meet with department managers to keep them up to date on all hotel sales-related expenses
  • Boost revenue and increase new guest visits through strategic outbound sales efforts that may include phone solicitation to local professionals, corporations, and members of your personal network
  • Analyze market data and use it to develop methods for meeting financial targets, designing marketing plan deliverables, and developing an annual sales forecast
  • Implement a strategic plan that aligns with revenue management and hotel objectives to assist the sales staff in meeting and exceeding room booking goals
  • Develop and implement sales strategies that maintain high levels of occupancy and profitability through coordination with department managers
  • Marriott experience ideal
  • Displays a proven track record of sales success by lead-generation and closing
  • Exemplary communication skills, leadership skills, and analytical skills
  • We prefer someone with prior hospitality experience but is not required
  • 5+ years of experience in sales, preferably in the hospitality field, is required
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office

Compensation

$65,000 - $75,000 yearly
