Description
We are seeking a Bookkeeper for our Real Estate business. In this role, you will work along side the owner, managing the books for our real estate company. You will be responsible for ensuring all transactions are assigned by the end of the week. Each account should be reconciled on a monthly basis. This person will own the books, which means ensuring that any questions on how transactions should be assigned are escalated to the owner of that transaction. We manage multiple projects at once, and that means ensuring each transaction gets assigned to the correct project. You will be the first line of defense to ensure that our properties are performing as they should. Any irregularities with the apartment income should be escalated.
Responsibilities
- Record and process all financial transactions using QuickBooks Online.
- Perform bank reconciliations and general ledger reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial data.
- Ensure that the Balance sheet is balanced for individual properties. Properties that are sold should not carry a balance.
- Prepare journal entries, account analyses, and balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
- Assist with budgeting, financial report writing, and financial concept explanations for internal stakeholders.
- Maintain detailed records of all transactions, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and external regulations, including governmental accounting standards when applicable.
Qualifications
- Willingness to learn and teach.
- Experience with QuickBooks Online.
- Familiar with Google Sheets.
- Demonstrated expertise in double-entry bookkeeping, journal entries, account reconciliation, and general ledger accounting.
- Strong understanding of financial concepts including debits & credits, account analysis, bank reconciliation, and financial report writing.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities
- Excellent communication skills to clearly explain financial information and collaborate effectively across departments.
- Experience keeping books for a real estate professional who buys and sells homes is a bonus.
Compensation
$18 - $22/hour
