ASSISTANT BOOKKEEPER/ACCOUNTANT (AI INTEGRATION TRACK)
Location: Los Angeles, California | Hybrid / On-Site
Job Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Accounting Manager/Owner
We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented Assistant Bookkeeper/ Accountant with a genuine interest in AI and automation to join our growing law firm team. In this hybrid role, you will support daily financial operations, managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank statements, and preparing financial reports, while also learning to identify and implement AI solutions to streamline accounting workflows. The ideal candidate combines solid accounting fundamentals with intellectual curiosity, a willingness to learn emerging technologies, and enthusiasm for improving processes through automation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Record and manage daily financial transactions — Post accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries with accuracy and timeliness.
- Reconcile bank and credit card accounts — Perform regular account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
- Process client invoicing and collections — Prepare and send invoices, track receivables, and follow up professionally on overdue accounts.
- Support payroll operations — Assist with payroll processing, verify time tracking data, and maintain employee payroll records.
- Prepare financial statements and reports — Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and tax filings.
- Identify and implement AI/automation solutions — Research, evaluate, and recommend AI tools and automation workflows to streamline accounting processes.
- Develop and deploy AI agents — Create, test, and implement custom AI agents to automate repetitive tasks such as invoice processing, expense categorization, and account reconciliation.

Responsibilities
Core Accounting Functions:
- Record day-to-day financial transactions, including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and general ledger entries
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and vendor invoices regularly to ensure accuracy
- Prepare, send, and track client invoices; follow up on overdue accounts professionally
- Review, categorize, and process employee expense reports and receipts
- Assist with payroll processing, time tracking verification, and maintaining employee payroll records
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and tax filings
- Maintain an organized digital filing system for all financial records, receipts, and contracts
AI & Automation Development (growing over time):
- Learn accounting software (QuickBooks Online, Excel) and explore AI-native tools and integrations
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive accounting tasks using AI agents and workflow automation
- Develop, test, and deploy custom AI agents to streamline invoice processing, expense categorization, and reconciliation
- Document and implement new AI workflows that increase departmental efficiency
- Stay current with emerging AI tools relevant to accounting and finance operations
- Pursue AI certifications and training (we fund and support this)
- Collaborate with the accounting team to integrate AI solutions into daily processes
Qualifications
Required:
- Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent work experience)
- 2-3 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or financial data management
- Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks Online
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data entry, formulas, basic analysis)
- Strong understanding of basic double-entry bookkeeping principles
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and data integrity
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle confidential financial information with absolute discretion
