Bilingual (English-Spanish) Probate Paralegal
Are you a bilingual trusts and estates legal professional who loves helping people, keeping details organized, and making sure important work moves forward?
Maybe you:
Enjoy guiding clients through unfamiliar processes with patience and compassion.
Take pride in keeping matters organized, tracking deadlines, and following through.
Have experience in probate, trust administration, or a related area of law—and want to keep growing.
Speak English and Spanish and enjoy helping clients feel comfortable and understood.
Love technology, systems, efficient workflows, and automations, and can confidently leverage them.
Want to escape the Bay Area grind and work with a fun, supportive team.
Appreciate a team that works hard, supports one another, and believes life outside the office matters, too.
Are looking for a long-term role where people stay and grow together, not just a stepping stone (our employees stay with us for years, and we hope you do, too!)
If that sounds like you, keep reading because we’re looking for someone who is excited to contribute to a team of fun, smart, driven humans, and who wants to build a meaningful career with us.
We’re looking for a Bilingual Probate Legal Assistant or Paralegal to join our Napa team to help families navigate probate, while building your skills and taking ownership of your work.
WHAT WE OFFER
We want our team members to feel supported in their work and have time for the people and activities they enjoy outside the office.
A small, collaborative team and meaningful work with clients and families.
Opportunities for professional development and growth.
Starting range of $30-$35 per hour based on experience.
Kaiser Permanente Health insurance.
Paid time off.
3% employer contribution to 401(k) plan.
Discretionary bonuses.
Schedule:
Full-time, on-site in Napa.
Monday–Thursday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Friday, 8:30 a.m.–2:00 p.m.
HOW WE HIRE
We follow a “right people, right seats” model for hiring new team members.
Right People: First, we’re looking for people who will really fit with our team culture and core values:
BE INVESTED. We care about one another, work collaboratively, and follow through so our team can count on each other.
BE COMPASSIONATE. We listen, act with kindness, and treat others fairly.
BE RESPONSIVE. We respect others’ time, communicate promptly, and provide updates when a thorough response will take longer.
BE INNOVATIVE. We adapt and embrace change and look for better ways to use technology and improve clients’ experience.
BE PRECISE. We value accuracy, thoroughness, outstanding service, and exceptional quality.
Right Seats: Second, we want to make sure you are a fit for the particular role we’re looking to fill.
Your Role
Under attorney supervision, you will:
Assist with probate matters, including preparing petitions, notices, inventories, correspondence, court filings, and other documents.
Track and meet court dates, filing deadlines, notices, tasks, and next steps to help keep matters moving.
Gather information and documents from clients, beneficiaries, financial institutions, and other professionals.
Communicate with English- and Spanish-speaking clients, attorneys, and third parties, ensuring transparency and professionalism, providing updates, requesting information, and helping them understand the next steps in the process.
Coordinate asset valuations, transfers, and distributions.
Conduct probate and trust administration intake calls, gather information, and document it for the legal team.
Maintain accurate, organized electronic client files and update matter information.
Prepare documents for attorney review, coordinate e-filing, and follow up on outstanding items.
Support attorneys in preparing for hearings and case-related proceedings.
Assist with trust administration, conservatorships, and estate planning matters and related documents as needed.
Help with incoming calls and other administrative tasks when needed to support the team.
Look for ways to improve our processes and clients’ experience.
You’ll need:
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines.
A dependable, proactive approach and a commitment to following through.
Compassion and professionalism when working with clients, including families experiencing loss.
The ability to work collaboratively with attorneys and team members while taking responsibility for assigned work.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish.
Proficiency using technology (Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, electronic case-management systems) and e-filing court documents.
Minimum 2+ years of recent experience with California probate.
A notary commission or willingness to obtain one.
Working knowledge of the California Probate Code, California Rules of Court, and Code of Civil Procedure, with the ability to locate applicable rules and procedures. (Candidates with more advanced legal research and analysis experience will be given preference)
You don’t need to know everything on day one. We’re looking for someone who brings a strong foundation in California probates, cares about doing excellent work, and wants to continue learning.
Compensation
$30 - $35 hourly
