Job Title: Bilingual Legal Assistant / Legal Administrative Assistant
Location: Queens County, NY (In-Office)
Job Type: Full-Time
Salary: $55,000 – $70,000 per year
Schedule: Monday – Friday, full-time in the office/40 hours a week
A busy, growing general practice law firm located in Queens, New York, is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated bilingual Spanish/English Legal Assistant to support our litigation law team. We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality legal services and maintaining a collaborative, fast-paced work environment. We need a bright, organized team member to join our office.
Position Summary
The Legal Assistant will work closely with our managing attorney to manage daily administrative tasks, organize case files, and assist with document preparation. The ideal candidate possesses exceptional organizational skills, strong written communication abilities, and a basic understanding of New York court filing procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Document Management: Draft, format, proofread, and edit legal documents, correspondence, and basic pleadings.
Case Management: Maintain, organize, and update physical and electronic case files using the firm’s case management software.
Court Filings: Coordinate electronic court filings (NYSCEF) and track critical calendar deadlines, court appearances, and discovery schedules.
Communication: Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, court clerks, and opposing counsel with high professionalism.
Administrative Support: Manage attorney calendars, schedule depositions and client meetings, handle incoming mail, and perform general office duties, including answering client phone calls and emails in English and Spanish.
Qualifications & Skills
Experience: 2–3 + years of administrative or clerical experience; prior experience in a law firm setting is preferred.
Education: Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree (preferred).
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with legal case management platforms.
Communication: Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a strong plus.
Attributes: Highly organized, detail-oriented, able to multitask, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Compensation:
Salary: $55,000 - $70,000 (based on experience).
In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for a performance-based year-end bonus. Bonuses are tied to firm performance and individual contribution, including case preparation, case development, and overall impact on results. High performers have the opportunity to earn above base compensation.

Opportunity for growth
Conduct in-depth legal research utilizing Westlaw and/or LexisNexis.
Draft legal memoranda, briefs, motions, and discovery requests/responses.
Assist with electronic case filing (NYSCEF and Federal ECF systems) and manage court dockets and correspondence.
Organize and maintain case files, exhibits, and evidentiary materials.
Track billable hours accurately in compliance with firm standards.
Assist and handle all office correspondence, including answering phone calls and emails.
Arrange meetings with clients and correspond with clients, attorneys, and the Court.
Be organized and able to meet upcoming deadlines.
- Accept other administrative tasks as needed to assist the team and ensure the firm runs smoothly
- Handle office correspondence and administrative tasks such as responding to emails and phone calls, communicating with opposing attorney offices, taking dictation, and letting the team know about upcoming deadlines
- Complete legal research as needed under the supervision of attorneys and paralegals
- Use daily time records to properly process client billing with support from the accounting department
- Schedule meetings and appointments for the team, such as depositions, make travel arrangements, and coordinate with outside vendors for events
- Work with attorneys and paralegals to create various legal documents, including pleadings, motions, subpoenas, affidavits, contracts, and briefs for case preparation, and proofread documents when requested

- Some college is preferred; high school diploma or equivalent is required
- Candidates should have strong organizational skills and communication skills
- Candidates must have worked with legal software, case management, and docketing programs
- Must be able to type at least 50 WPM
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines with quick turnaround times
- Ability to comfortably use all Microsoft Office products
Compensation
$55,000 - $70,000 yearly
