Attorney Supervisor

You Have Probably Supervised Without the Title

You are already the attorney everyone brings the hard questions to. You review the motion nobody else wants to touch, you cover the hearing when a calendar blows up, and you fix the file that arrived three weeks before trial with no strategy in it. You do all of that on top of a full caseload, and none of it shows up anywhere except in the hours you lose.

We are hiring for that work on purpose, with the title, the authority, and the structure to go with it.

What This Role Actually Is

This is a working supervisor seat. You carry your own family law caseload, and you are accountable for the quality of what the rest of the legal team produces. Both. If you want a pure management seat with no clients of your own, this is not it, and we would rather you know that now.

What makes it workable here is that the firm is built to keep the noise off your desk:

We screen hard before we sign. Every prospective client goes through real pre-screening before onboarding. When a case lands on your team, someone has already decided it was worth taking and that the client can work with us. You will not spend your supervisory time unwinding intake mistakes.

You have operations behind you. Paralegals, a dedicated intake team, and an operations function whose entire purpose is that attorneys practice law instead of chasing filings and fixing calendars. Supervision here means legal judgment and development, not calendar policing.

You get courtroom time. Family law puts you in front of judges more than almost any other practice area, and we are in court regularly. Contested hearings, evidentiary proceedings, and trials, on your own matters and backing up your team on theirs.

You know where you stand and so does your team. Our values are Excellence, Authenticity, and Respect, and authenticity here means respectful directness. Feedback is direct and it is timely, in both directions. You will never have to decode what someone actually meant, and we will expect the same clarity from you.

We are building this seat as planned growth with the client base already in place. This is not a scramble to cover a departure.

Your own caseload

  • Handle family law matters from initial strategy through resolution: divorce, legal separation, child custody, parenting time, child support, spousal maintenance, and modifications

  • Appear in court throughout Arizona for hearings, conferences, evidentiary proceedings, and trials

  • Draft and argue motions, prepare briefs and memoranda, and own the quality of everything filed under your name

  • Counsel clients honestly through decisions that are emotionally difficult and legally consequential

  • Negotiate settlements when settlement genuinely serves the client

Supervising the legal team

  • Supervise the firm's associate attorneys and the paralegal team on legal production and work-product quality

  • Review pleadings, motions, discovery, and correspondence before they go out under the firm's name

  • Assign and balance caseload across attorneys and paralegals, and escalate to leadership when capacity is the real problem

  • Set case strategy with the assigned attorney early, not three weeks before the hearing

  • Run regular one-on-ones, give feedback in the moment, and develop attorneys who are still building their courtroom reps

  • Cover hearings and step into files when a matter is at risk

  • Hold the line on deadlines, ethical obligations, and client communication standards

  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and performance conversations for the legal team

  • Tell us when a process is broken. We change things that do not work.

  • Active Arizona Bar admission in good standing

  • Substantial family law experience including contested hearings and trials

  • Demonstrated experience supervising, mentoring, or reviewing the work of other attorneys or legal staff, whether or not you held the title

  • Excellent legal writing and analytical skills, and the judgment to correct someone else's work without rewriting it for them

  • Organized and reliable with the ability to manage your own deadlines and someone else's without being chased

  • Willing to give direct feedback and to receive it

  • Willingness to travel for court appearances throughout Arizona

Strongly Preferred

  • Estates, trust, guardianship, or probate background

  • Spanish fluency

  • Experience building or improving legal workflow, templates, or case standards

Compensation

$150,000 - $195,000 yearly

Our Values

Excellence: We are the best. If we are not, we figure out how to get there without compromising our principles.

Authenticity: We say what we mean and mean what we say. We are respectful but direct, and we practice radical candor.

Respect: We treat each other the way we require to be treated, and we expect the same from those we serve.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary commensurate with experience and supervisory scope; we will discuss the range early in the process

  • Performance bonus tied to billable hours and collected revenue

  • 401(k)

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance

  • Paid time off

  • Professional development assistance

Work Structure

Hybrid. Court appearances, client meetings, supervision, and team collaboration happen onsite in Tucson. Trial prep, drafting, and case preparation can be done remotely when it makes sense. A supervisory seat requires meaningful onsite presence; your team cannot learn from someone they never see.
