Practice law without billable hours. Own your cases. Make a meaningful difference in the lives of families.
Nelson Elder Care Law is seeking a Probate Attorney to guide clients and their families through the probate process from start to finish. You will work directly with clients, provide legal guidance, manage your own caseload, appear in court, and handle litigation matters when needed.
This is an opportunity for an Attorney who wants to take ownership of their cases, build client relationships and see matters through resolution.
You don't need to have every answer on day one. We value attorneys who are curious, resourceful, and eager to learn. We're looking for someone who takes initiative, asks questions, finds solutions, and follows through.
What makes Nelson Elder Care Law Different?
No billable hours. Focus on helping clients and moving cases forward without the pressure of tracking every minute of your day.
Real ownership from day one. Take responsibility for your cases, develop strategies, make informed decisions, and guide clients through each stage.
Work that makes a difference. Help families navigate probate, guardianship, and conservatorship matters during important and often difficult times in their lives.
A culture built on accountability. Our values aren't just words on a wall. We believe in taking ownership, supporting one another, and doing the right things for clients and teammates.
Room to grow. Continue developing your legal knowledge, strengthen your courtroom experience, and build confidence as a practicing attorney.
As a Probate Attorney, you will play a key role in guiding clients through the probate process and litigation, including Guardianship and Conservatorship matters. You will manage your caseload with a high level of independence, provide trusted legal guidance, and work closely with our Probate Team to ensure each client receives knowledgeable, compassionate, and timely support.
What You'll Do:
Lead the client Probate and Guardianship Experience.
Help hold the team accountable by overseeing all cases and ensuring all deadlines are met in a timely manner.
Meet with clients and conduct client consultations, case reviews, and strategy meetings to understand client goals and develop an appropriate legal strategy.
Serve as a trusted point of contact for clients and the Probate Team on legal questions and issues requiring attorney-level guidance.
Develop strong relationships with clients and their families through clear communication, empathy, responsiveness, and consistent follow-through.
Prepare, review, and file probate pleadings, petitions, motions, and other legal documents as needed.
Represent clients in hearings, mediations, and litigation when necessary. Also proactively monitor cases and take action to keep matters progressing and deadlines on track.
Assist with accounts receivable collections and client account management as needed.
Manage caseload with minimal oversight and work directly with legal team members to ensure clients’ goals are met within the expected timeframe.
What We Are Looking For:
We are looking for an attorney who is confident in their ability to practice law, takes ownership of their work, and genuinely cares about the people they serve. The ideal candidate is comfortable managing a caseload independently, making informed decisions, and moving cases forward while recognizing when to collaborate, ask questions, and learn from others.
Licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia.
Previous probate experience is preferred, but not required. Litigation experience in other practice areas will also be considered.
Demonstrated ability to manage a caseload independently, prioritize competing deadlines, and keep matters moving forward.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to connect with clients and families during emotionally challenging circumstances.
Excellent judgment, emotional intelligence, and professionalism when working with clients, families, colleagues, and opposing counsel.
Strong negotiation and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to navigate difficult conversations, reconcile differences, and work toward mutually beneficial outcomes.
Ability to provide clear, confident legal guidance and explain complex legal concepts in a way clients can understand.
Strong legal research, writing, drafting, and analytical skills.
Excellent organization and time-management skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
A growth mindset and genuine willingness to learn, adapt, and continuously improve.
A commitment to doing the right thing for clients, the team, and the firm—even when it's difficult.
