Description

Greenberg & Sinkovits, LLC is seeking an experienced Associate Family Law Attorney to join our growing practice. We are looking for an attorney with at least five years of substantive family law experience who is a skilled litigator and negotiator, takes ownership of their cases, and is interested in building a long-term future with our firm.

Our firm represents clients in a wide range of family law matters throughout Cook, DuPage, Lake, and Will Counties. We pride ourselves on providing excellent legal representation and practical, thoughtful guidance to clients during some of the most challenging times in their lives.

The Position

The Associate Attorney will independently manage a family law caseload while working collaboratively with the firm’s partners, paralegals, and support staff.

This is a primarily remote position. The firm maintains physical offices in Park Ridge and Naperville, and attorneys are expected to attend occasional in-person meetings, firm events, and other activities at these locations as needed. Court appearances and other case-related responsibilities may also require in-person attendance.

Who Will Thrive Here

The right attorney is dependable, engaged, responsive, and invested in producing excellent work. They take ownership of their cases, communicate proactively, meet deadlines, and recognize when an issue requires additional attention or assistance.

We are looking for someone who combines independence and initiative with a collaborative, positive attitude. The ideal candidate wants the autonomy to manage their work, appreciates being part of a highly supportive team, and is excited about the opportunity to grow alongside the firm.

Responsibilities

  • Manage family law matters from intake through resolution, including divorce, parentage, allocation of parental responsibilities, child support, maintenance, and other related matters.

  • Represent clients in court proceedings, including case management conferences, contested hearings, pretrial conferences, and trials.

  • Develop case strategy and provide clients with practical, well-reasoned legal advice.

  • Negotiate effectively with opposing counsel and work toward favorable resolutions when appropriate.

  • Draft high-quality pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, settlement documents, and other legal documents with strong attention to detail.

  • Proactively manage deadlines, court appearances, client communications, and other case responsibilities.

  • Maintain regular and effective communication with clients and ensure they remain informed about the status and strategy of their cases.

  • Collaborate effectively with attorneys and staff while taking ownership and responsibility for assigned matters.

  • Accurately and consistently record time and meet the firm’s annual minimum requirement of 1,600 billable hours.

  • Demonstrate initiative in identifying issues, solving problems, and moving cases forward independently.

  • Accept and implement feedback and demonstrate a commitment to continued professional development.

  • Participate in firm initiatives and contribute to the continued growth and success of the firm.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A minimum of five years of substantive family law experience.

  • An active Illinois law license in good standing.

  • Strong litigation, courtroom, and negotiation skills.

  • Strong legal research, analysis, and writing abilities.

  • The ability to independently manage a caseload and competing deadlines.

  • Excellent judgment, organization, and attention to detail.

  • A strong sense of accountability and ownership over client matters.

  • Strong interpersonal and client communication skills.

  • The ability to work independently in a primarily remote environment while remaining responsive, engaged, and connected to the firm and team.

  • A positive, collaborative attitude and the ability to work effectively with attorneys and support staff.

  • A proactive approach to work and a willingness to take initiative.

  • An interest in building a long-term career with the firm.

  • A reliable car to attend court appearances.

Compensation

$90,000 - $120,000
