Do you walk into a courtroom and feel alive?
Are you the kind of attorney who actually wants to try cases — who has already proven you can stand in front of a judge, argue on your feet, and fight for clients?
If that's you, and if family law is where your heart is, we want to talk.
South Texas Family Law Group is a fast-growing, award-winning family law firm in San Antonio, Texas, and we are looking for a hungry, bilingual, litigation-focused Associate Attorney who is ready to do real work, grow fast, and be part of a team that genuinely cares about the families we serve.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is not a document-review position. This is not a "wait your turn" seat at a big firm. This is a litigation role — family law cases, Texas courts, real clients in crisis — and we need someone who has already gotten their feet wet and is ready to go deeper.
You will carry an active caseload of family law matters — divorce, custody, support, modifications, paternity, and related issues — and you will appear in court. You will work shoulder-to-shoulder with experienced attorneys and support staff who are invested in your success. You will be held to professional billing standards, and you will be rewarded generously when you exceed them.
BENEFITS & ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION
We take care of our attorneys.
Bar dues paid by the firm
Malpractice insurance paid by the firm
Group life insurance paid by the firm
CLE (Continuing Legal Education) paid by the firm
Free parking
2 weeks paid time off — to start
11 company-paid holidays — per year
Employer-matched retirement plan — after 3 years of employment, you become eligible to participate in our employer-matched retirement contribution program
All firm-paid benefits above represent substantial additional compensation — and most of it is tax-advantaged.
Manage an active caseload of family law matters, including divorce, custody, child support, property division, paternity, modifications, and protective orders
Appear in court for hearings, trials, temporary orders, and other contested proceedings
Review pleadings, motions, orders, and other legal documents with accuracy and professionalism
Conduct client consultations, keep clients informed of case progress, and manage client expectations with empathy and clarity
Negotiate with opposing counsel toward favorable settlements while always being prepared to litigate
Conduct legal research and apply findings effectively to client matters
Collaborate with paralegals, legal assistants, and other attorneys to move cases forward efficiently
Maintain detailed, accurate, and timely billing records consistent with firm standards
Participate in firm meetings, case reviews, and professional development opportunities
Represent the firm's values — compassion, honesty, and persistence — in every client interaction
Licensed to practice law in Texas — and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas
Demonstrated litigation experience — this means real courtroom time: jury trials, bench trials, contested hearings, law school mock trial, or comparable advocacy experience. If you have never stood up and argued in front of anyone, this role is not the right fit yet
Texas family law experience with billable-hour practice — you have worked family law matters and understand what it means to bill hourly and track your time professionally
Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish — you are fully comfortable advising clients, conducting consultations, and appearing in hearings in both languages
Team player and culture fit — we are a tight-knit team built on trust, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to doing right by the clients we serve. Lone wolves and credit-seekers will not thrive here
A genuine passion for family law — and for helping families navigate some of the hardest moments of their lives
