Description
A quick note before you read on
At a lot of firms, a new attorney spends the first year doing back-office work and rarely sees a client. We do it differently. Here, you'll be meeting with clients, working real cases, and owning meaningful responsibility from early on — because we trust the people we bring on, and we hire people who are excited by that.
We're a modern estate planning and probate firm doing work that genuinely matters: helping families protect what they've built and giving them real peace of mind. We've invested in great technology and a collaborative, low-ego culture so our attorneys can focus on clients instead of busywork. We'll be honest — it's a busy, growing practice and the work is real. But if you love client-facing work and want ownership over your cases, you'll feel right at home here.
Where you'll grow
Into a full caseload of estate planning and probate clients that you manage with real independence — light oversight, not hand-holding — paired with a paralegal who handles the heavy lifting on probate.
Who thrives here
- Self-motivated. You take the reins and control your own outcomes. You don't wait for permission.
- Growth-minded and open. You're curious about better ways to work, including new technology — not locked into "how I've always done it."
- Organized under load. You can carry a busy caseload, stay on top of deadlines, and not let things slip through the cracks.
- Genuinely good with people. You build rapport easily, handle emotional and complex issues with empathy, and can explain legal concepts in plain, relatable language.
- A real teammate. Everyone here has a role, and the client experience depends on all of us doing ours.
Who won't thrive here
- Big egos and "it has to be done my way" attitudes
- Anyone who'd rather wait for direction than dig in and figure things out
- Attorneys who resist technology or new ways of working
Responsibilities
- Meet with clients and prospective clients from day one — building trust, understanding their goals, and guiding them through the process
- Design and draft custom estate plans: wills, trusts, healthcare proxies, powers of attorney — built around the client, not a stock template
- Handle probate matters and grow that side of the practice with us (the mix is roughly 75% estate planning, 25% probate today, with room to shift)
- Work hand-in-hand with our paralegals to keep cases moving and the client experience tight
- Use our tech stack to work faster and make fewer errors — and help us stay ahead of where this profession is going
Qualifications
- Licensed in New Hampshire (Maine license a plus, or willingness to waive in)
- 2–5 years of experience in estate planning and/or probate (probate experience is a strong plus — it's foundational to good estate planning)
- Comfortable with legal tech: CRM, case management, drafting tools, Zoom
- Able to commute to our Dover, NH office — this is a full-time, in-office role (we do not pay relocation)
Compensation
$90,000 - $105,000/year
