O'Connor Law PLLC is a Westchester-based firm dedicated to representing injured workers and disabled individuals. Clients can't work because of an injury or illness and are fighting for the benefits they've earned. You'll do meaningful work with real hearing experience, not get buried in document review.

We're hiring an Associate Attorney to join our growing Social Security Disability and New York Workers' Compensation practice. Recent law school graduates and candidates pending bar admission are welcome to apply.

With hearings and depositions happening every day, you'll build real advocacy skills, including cross-examining medical experts, learn to evaluate medical evidence, and develop client-counseling instincts that will serve you for an entire career. You'll do it alongside experienced attorneys who invest in training and mentorship.

Our hybrid model

We're a hybrid firm, and that's a permanent part of how we work. Our attorneys generally work four days per week in our Westchester office and one day remotely. In-office time is where our team collaborates, mentors review your work, and attorneys debrief hearings together. You must live within a reasonable commuting distance of our office and be able to maintain this schedule long term.

What we offer

• Salary: $65,000-$80,000, plus bonuses based on firm revenue

What you'll do

• Represent clients at Social Security disability hearings and Workers' Compensation Board hearings, with early and frequent hands-on advocacy

• Conduct medical depositions, questioning treating physicians and cross-examining insurance-selected doctors to build the medical record

• Handle hearings and depositions on a daily basis, so you'll build experience faster than in almost any other practice area

• Appear at all proceedings by phone and video. Every hearing and deposition is conducted remotely, so your time goes to preparing and advocating instead of adding stress and travel time to your day

• Manage your own caseload from intake through resolution

• Develop medical evidence, work with treating physicians, and prepare compelling records and legal arguments

• Prepare briefs, appeals, and pre-hearing submissions

• Counsel clients through a stressful process with clarity and compassion

Who you are

• A recent law school graduate or attorney with 0-2 years of experience

• Admitted in New York, or pending admission (we'll support you through the process)

• Living in, or willing to relocate to, a commutable distance from our Westchester office

• Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple deadlines

• A clear writer and confident speaker

• Empathetic and motivated by advocacy for the underdog

• No prior Social Security or Workers' Compensation experience required. We'll teach you.
